AFC GOP 6 v 2 AFC Southsea

Victory!

This season opener for AFC GOP was a re run of the Buster Gordon Cup Final from last season. The difference being in this game, the gap between the two teams on today performances was a lot more noticeable.

From the off AFC GOP knocked the ball around well and were hardly troubled. A tap in from Tom Grice put the home side ahead early on in the first half and then a second goal was shortly added a few mins later by the lively George Way.

A moment of quick thinking by the AFC Southsea striker reduced the deficit to one goal. Way then responded as he put the GOP 3-1 up with a cheeky Dwight Yorke style penalty after Ryan Dugan had been brought down in the box.

Just before half time Southsea pulled another goal back due to some confusion between Way and Luke Grice. GOP were causing their own pressure in the game and should of put the game beyond any doubt at the half way stage.

GOP did make it count in the second half. Ten mins into the second half Dugan made the score 4-2 as he tapped in  a cross and Nev Farley added two more goals after good work by Way and Levi Foster for his first and Dugan for his second.

Late on Chandler Brujo saved a Southsea penalty which capped of a fine win for GOP.
