Eastlands FC 1 v 6 The Crown FC

Losers!

Eatlands went into this game as complete underdogs but as often has been the case this season they were out of the traps quickly and had their guests on the back foot in the opening fifteen minutes. Alex Hamilton, starting in left midfield, had two decent chances within ten minutes but failed to keep his composure in front of goal. Barry Flockhart was then fed into a great position but his normally faithful right foot failed to connect properly and his tame shot squeezed wide of the post.

The Crown had expected to coast to victory but they were being made to work and weren't playing anywhere near the standard that was expected of them. Fortune favoured them midway through the first half though when they were gifted a penalty by a clumsy Ciaron Davies challenge which was duly despatched. Minutes later a hopeful shot from a tight angle deflected off Flockhart's shin and looped agonisingly over Ben Bevan and into the far corner to put them 2-0 up against the run of play.

Andy Hunt pulled an excellent goal back before half time, tricking his way past three players on the edge of the box before poking a shot home.

The second half started badly for Eastlands when The Crown scored a tap in following a corner that wasn't cleared properly and by now the visitors were cruising and in complete control. They were gifted a further goal when a hopeful shot from distance bobbled under Ben Bevan's body as he tried to save.

Eastlands FC 3 v 6 Southwick Wanderers

Losers!

Eastlands got off to a flying start in this relegation four pointer when Ashley Grover got back on the goal trail with a sweetly struck right foot finish from the edge of the box capitalising on a poor clearance after just ten minutes.
Inevitably the lead didn't last long and experienced Steve Kew paid the price for dithering on the ball on the edge of his own area as he was dispossessed and the Southwick player slotted home comfortably to level the score.
The visitors were soon in front as their very own Rory Delap was causing all sorts of problems with his launched long throw ins, one of which found an unmarked player on the far post who was able to smash the ball into the top corner to put Southwick 2-1 up after half an hour.
Steve Kew was determined to make amends for his earlier mistake and found himself in a good position on the edge of the box enabling Geoff Godway to set him up nicely. Kew's low drive struck the post but was knocked into his own net by the unfortunate Southwick keeper to level things before half time.
The second half started badly for the home side when Ciaron Davies was adjudged to have manhandled his opponent at a corner and a penalty was given which was despatched to put the home side behind again. Southwick had already missed a penalty in the first half. Southwick managed to find a 4th goal soon afterwards and at that point changes were made by the home side.
Roger Wiltshire came onto the right side of midfield to replace the injured Jon Giddings and a debut was given to young Nick Kelly at right back in place of unfortunate Davies.
Wiltshire made an instant impact beating his man and sending a low cross from the right, which was met convincingly at the near post by Andy Hunt to volley home.
That was a as good as it got for eastlands wh the pushed extra men forward and continued to create chances but despite hitting the woodwork several times, found themselves caught out at the back to concede twice more and end up on the losing side once again staring relegation in the face.

The Crown Fc 7 V 0 Eastlands Fc

Losers!

Eastlands went into this match on a long losing run, and werent about to end that streak against a very strong Crown side who are pushing for promotion to Division 2.

Eastlands started with a makeshift back four, after 2 defenders in the starting 11 (Geoff Goodway and debutant Tim Bunt) couldn't make it to the match. Steve Kew who jusually plays in Centre Midfield filled in at Centre Back, whilst Adam Davey moved across to Left Back. This left a space in midfield for Barry Flockhart, making his return after a lengthy layoff with a knee problem. Jeremy Wiltshire joined Ashley Grover upfront, after an impressive partnership against Westbury White Horse, despite not scoring.

The match started openly, with Eastlands just edging the possession. The team were playing some nice football, but lacked the killer pass to create a clear-cut goal scoring opportunity. The first good chance of the game fell to Roger Wiltshire. Andy Hunt cut inside from the right and played an inch perfect through ball to Wiltshire, who's audacious volley from 15 yards was parried away at the near post by Goalkeeper Nick Harford. Jeremy Wiltshire played a very physical game upfront, forcing Manager and Left Back of The Crown Tom Perkins to go off injured. This proved bad for Eastlands, as the substitute that replaced him actually strenghtened their defence.

The Crown finally got a deserved goal after 20 minutes when Jason Lucas got goalside of Steve kew from a seemingly aimless throw down the line and tucked the ball into the far corner past Ben Bevan from a tight angle. This opened the floodgates as the score soon became 3-0.

Eastlands were unlucky when after 30 minutes one of their most solid players Stuart Hamilton was forced off with injury after blocking a powerful shot on goal. Alex Mitchell came on in an unfamiliar position of left back. The Crown saw out the first half leading 4-0.

The second half saw The Crown take the score to 5-0 straight away. This forced Davey to change the tactics. Jeremy Wiltshire went into Centre Back (a position he is very familiar with). Davey then moved across to Left Back, with Alex MItchell pushing forward into Left MIdfield and Roger Wiltshire partnering Grover upfront. This created more chanced for Eastlands, as J. Wiltshire's big kicks from the back gave R. Wiltshre, Grover and Mitchell lots of long balls to chase. On the hour mark Eastlands were unlucky not to get on the scoresheet when a 40 yard ball from J. Wiltshire found R. Wiltshire, who then proceeded to lob the Advancing keeper majestically. The linesman, however, unsurprisingly called this tight decision offside. The losing side were also unlucky for a couple of goals that clueless linesman Simon Higgins gave as onside.

Eastlands had more chances to get on the szcoresheet as Mitchell had a lot of possession down the left flank, but couldnt find  a teammate from a number of crossing attempts. The Crown ran out deserving winners, 7-0.
