Draw a fair result
Greyhound Athletic, started with a rare sight as Rob Dawes pulled a Shirt on to accompany Tom Carter upfront. In the new look Greyhound Athletic Team. With Dan Mitchell and Craig Billyeald absent, Gaz Smethem and Allistair Allsopp came into the defence. Smethem taking the left back position. Greyhound had a lot of possession early on and peppered the Horsley Keeper. Rob Dawes played a one two with the busy keeper to tap home and make it one - nil after 15 minutes.
Horsley had alucky break with a flick paying off for their left mid to run onto and fire low and hard past Mark Big Nev Barker. After that chances fell to both sides, but neither took them.
Horsley's long throw was proving to be a problem for Athletic who had been warned serveral times of the danger. However they never took this warning and in the 60th minute Rich Jones glanced a header past Barker who could only watch it into his net.
With the game looking to end 2-1 to Horsley, Greyhound stepped up the pressure and a quick throw in from Gaz Smethem to a free Sid Billyeald gave him the chance to have ago. Billyeald wound his boot up and fired it home from 5o yards out into the top corner - the keeper could do nothing but admire the shot. With 5 minutes to go, Greyhound who were now on top in possession saw a Sid Billyeald free kick from the left hit the underside of the bar bounce on the line and then out. All in all a fair result and Sid Billyeald took the Fruity Man of the Match for his superb goal.

Greyhoud ease to win
Greyhound Athletic started the game with Stand in Keeper Gaz Smethem, due to Big Nev Barkers injury. Greyhound took an early lead through Tommy Carter, who fired the ball ball home past the keeper after running onto a through ball from Ross Allsopp. The lead was cut short when White Hart equalised. Their right midfielder was found in loads of space by the striker for him to run into, Gaz Smethem came out to early and the player stroked the ball home.
Dan Mitchell then had to go in goals due to the an repetative thigh strain that has been plauging him all season. With Chunky Smethem now at the back. Hart had some good spells of possession and Dan Mitchell pulled of a couple of good saves. It was one - one going in at the break.
In the second half the introduction of Tim Bradley and Dave Flinders looked to be a good one, Greyhound had a lot of possession and the passing was good. It wasn't long before Tommy Carter grabbed his second a good reward for all the running he had done. This took the pressure of Greyhound who by now were controlling the game, with 20 minutes to go, Tommy Carter picked the ball up mid way in the Hart half and ran with the ball dribbling through watching defenders as he got to the line he passed across the box to find Dave Flinders waiting for the ball and tapped it in past the diving keeper. Dan Mitchell's work was not done he bossed his box and won everything in the air, however had to pull off to more great saves to deny the Hart another goal.
3 - 1 the final result with Tommy Carter taking Man of the Match with 2 goals and an assist he never stopped running.

Poor 30 minutes cost Athletic the game
Greyhound Athletic had an early exit from the Derbyshire Fa Junior Cup as they lost 4-2 to Rainbow International. Kickoff was put back to 11 because the opponents play sunday afternoons and yet Athletic still looked tired for their extra 1/2 in bed. Rainbow International soon took the lead after winning the toss and choosing to kick down hill. The visitors played it down the left wing to to knock it acorss the box for a tap in past "Big Nev" Barker. Their second again came from the left, but was a harder chance to finish, which the striker took well, two more goals came quickly and it looked as if the Atheltic players had given up. With 10 minutes to go before half time, Tommy Carter put the visiting team under pressure and was able to capatalise from the mistake that came from it, banging one home from close range. After that it was the away teams head that went down and Athletic were on top.
In the second half Athletic came out strong and were playing the away team off the park. The visitors couldn't cope with the fitness, movement and awareness of Joe Carter who was everywhere. They had a couple of chances but Mark "Big Nev" Barker, stood big and saved two one on ones to deny the Visitors another goal. Athletic continued to push on and Luke Alldred looked clean through on goal to score only to be fouled by the chasing defender. Up stepped Tim Bradley to convert the kick, but it just wasn't his day as he saw his penalty miss.
Rob Dawes came on to for Luke Alldred who had been having a quiet game and Dawesy immediatley took control of the midfield causing probems for his opponents. With 20 minutes to go Rob Bowmer gave way for Ross Allsopp who made an impact straight away crossing the ball into the box for Craig "Gimp" Billyeald to head past a flandering keeper. After that Athletic looked like getting more, Tom Carter blazed over the bar from close range after another slick move.
Mark Barker made yet two more great saves as Athletic were caught on the break with a long balls, the visitors could do anything else! However the final whistle came to soon for Athletic who by now were bossing the game doing all but scoring.
Mark Barker was named Man of the Match, with Joe Carter coming a close second by the away team manager. If we play every game like we did the second half we will be promoted by January.
