What a difference a week makes !

With 7 changes mostly enforced from the previous week an unlikely 11 came up trumps with an interesting performance against the reigning Chatsworth Cup winners Harleys fc.

From the off the River played as a team with something to proof and it wasn’t long before Nathan Young opened the scoring with a 25yrd curler that left the Harleys Keeper well an truly routed.

With every attack that followed the Harleys defence was carved open with ease and notably  more top draw goals followed with Matty Senior being the benefactor notching a well deserved brace.

3 nil half time

The second half was an interesting affair with two or three notable injuries on the pitch,. By default this leading to a defensive approach to nullify the predictable Harleys.

With the clock ticking the referee(who apologised after the game) overruled the linesman to wave play on for Harleys to pick up a glimmer of hope with a well taken drive. 3-1 and it was starting to become a nail biter. With 20 minutes remaining Harleys were awarded a stone wall penalty which just crept past the out stretched arms of Safe hands Shutts. 3-2.

In the last 15 minutes the Rivers defence and Steve held firm and kept the home side at bay to see out the match and record a notable scalp.

With this win we leapfrog Harleys into second place trailing Highfield by a point.
