Ipswich Revolution 0 v 3 The Brickies

Revs saved their worst for last as they finished the season with a 0-3 home defeat to the Brickies. A lethargic, sloppy performance with a failure to create chances or keep the ball was the theme of the day for the Revs. The first ten minutes of the game saw some possesion but a complete lack of ideas and composure allowed the Brickies to boss the gamne once they took the lead through Noel Gleeson on the half hour. The Revs back four were the one area which showed any real initiative or consistency but when the visitors made it 2-0 before the break the Revs faced an uphill battle failing to register a single shot on target in the first half.

Things did improve with Smith, Williams and Cracknell coming on at the Interval but the final ball and lack of composure meant the Brickies always looked sure of the points. Their third, a long distance effort sewed up the points.

A disspaointing end to the seaon in what has generally been a successful one but we will have to wait how the league restructures but it is hoped that the derby game v Ipswich Park will be on the fixture list next season!

Bar 129 2 v 4 Ipswich Revolution

Revs went into this clash without several players, especially specialist keepers Andy Lin ford and Andy Williams but stand in keeper Richard Page donned the gloves and put in a performance that was worthy of his man of the match award. Revs completely dominated the first half. Robbie Ward returned alongside Nick Jackson and Robbie Crossfield moved to left back while Matt Freeman switched to right back. The back four were superbly marshalled by Page in goal and many of the attacks started from ball brought out by the defence.

Phil Rowbotham and Eustace Clark orchestrated hings in the middle of the park although it was skipper Andy Yorke who pounced onto a loose ball just inside the centre circle and dashed half the legth of the pitch to shoot the Revs into the lead.

Andy Woodger and Neil Kersey covered a lot of ground on the flanks on the huge bobbly Trimley pitch and Woodger was rewarded for his efforts when he darted in between the Bar 129 backline to slip in his first goal for the Revolution. It was all one way traffic and Yoke bagged his second with a tap in before leading marksman Dean Webb got in on the act to make it 4-0 at the break lifting the ball over the home keeper.

The second half was less fruitful proabaly due to mutliple substitutions and the draining pitch and hot day. Credit to Bar 129 for pulling back two second half gaols which gave the Revs a nervy last 10 minutes but the Revs left Felixstowe the second time this season with 3 points.
