Match Reports

7/9/03 - AWAY LEAGUE - Chaseside Old Boys Reserves - WON 7-0

An excellent first competitive match, with good goals and good performances all round. Hardly a save to make for Tim Carr in goal. Man of the match performance by Jon O'Shea capped off by opening the scoring with a simple but determined goal. Excellent free kick from Gavin Roberts. A brace for both of the Box brothers and an excellent finish by first half substitute, Mark Griffiths

14/9/03 - HOME LEAGUE - Riverside Hotspur- WON 3-0
Not as good of performance as our opening game but probably a more gritty performance. At half time there looked to be only one winner, Riverside, but with a first class finish by Peter Hayes from a through ball from Mark Butcher, started the ball rolling on 65 minutes. Another goal from Peter then a goal from Jon O'Shea tidied up our first home match of the season at Grundy Park

21/9/03 - AWAY Herts Junior CUP - Rye House Rovers - 1-1 WON 4-3 on Penalties

Another game where we didn't seem to get out of the changing rooms in the first half, eventually conceding a goal on 35 minutes with a good finish from the Rye House Rovers striker. At half-time we were 1-0 down to a side two divisions lower but on the performance so far, looked like we were two divisions below them. A better start to the second half and eventually got our reward with a Micky Wolfe free kick that was saved then converted by Lee Goulden. Micky then hit another free kick against the crossbar. After 90 minutes it was 1-1. After a further 30 minutes extra time, still a draw. So to penalties. Mick Wolfe and Gavin Roberts score, they score one and miss one. Steve Lawes then does a Chris Waddle and they convert the next, 2-2 after 3 penalties. They score their next but Glen Doughty converts his as well. Then their final taker hits a good penalty to Lloyd Clapp's top right hand corner and he pulls off a wonderful save. Jon O'Shea converts our last to seal a 4-3 victory on Penalties.

28/9/03 - AWAY Roy Bailey Challenge CUP - Winchmore Wizards - Lost 5-3 (A.E.T.)
Glen Doughty and Rob Box put KW & SJ F.C. 2 - 0 up in the first half and look to be cruising. But 2 goals in the 2nd half put it all square. Rob Box then nets the 3rd only for Winchmore Wizards to equalise with minutes to go to take the game into extra time. Winchmore finally take the lead and then secure victory with 2 goals to win 5 - 3.

05/10/03 AWAY - Friendly - Flamstead End FC  Won 3-1
Good performance all round, some good football played in general. Still missing 4 key players and only had a bare 11 players. Peter Hayes stepped in between the posts to save the day as all 3 keepers unavailable for this late arranged friendly. 2 goals from Rob Box and one from Rob Cobb, helped KWSJ 'ROB' the match from good friends, Flamstead End. Jordan (not the one with big boobs!) pulled one goal back for Flamstead End before the end of the first half.

19/10/03 AWAY - LEAGUE - Enfield Crusaders- LOST 1-0
Bit of a scrappy game, not helped by the referee turning up 20 minutes late and with no equipment! I bet he doesn't get fined!! Mike Box had an excellent game and was a awarded man of the match by our panel, but a very close second for Tim "the cat" Carr, with another faultless performance between the sticks. A good tempered match but nil points!

26/10/03 AWAY - LEAGUE - Northaw- LOST 4-3
Played some good football, probably the best all season, but just couldn't finish enough of the chances created. Went 1-0 down against the run of play, but fought back with goals from Mark Griffiths and Glen Doughty to take us to a deserved 2-1 lead. A bad unlucky mistake from Tim Carr allowed Northaw to score on the stroke of half time to make it 2-2. A good goal scored by Northaw saw them take the lead early in the 2nd half, but then an overhead kick from Glen Doughty made it 3-3 with 15 mins to go. Northaw snatched victory by scoring with about 8 minutes left on the clock. KWSJ continued to press but just couldn't get that equalizer.

02/11/03 HOME - LEAGUE - Highway United - LOST 6-1
Poor performance in dreadful conditions. Never got out of 1st gear and never really looked like getting anything from the game. Mike Box went off injured with broken/dislocated fingers and from then on it was an uphill struggle. Lewis Morris scored to make the score 3-1 but then conceded a silly goal to put it beyond reach. One to forget!

09/11/03 AWAY - LEAGUE - Wormley Rovers - Drew 2-2
A well battled point after a below par first half performance. Took the lead from a cracking own goal from their centre half, seemed to be holding the lead ok but under a lot of pressure. Minutes before the break a supurb shot from 20 yards rifled into the back of our net to make it 1-1. Slow start to the second half and ended up conceding a silly looping header from a corner. A lot of character shown from all and eventually got the reward we deserved with a quality free-kick from Gavin Roberts that was glanced on by Rob Box to level the score. Mark Griffiths ha a chance to snatch all three points but put wide. In the end a draw was probably a fair result.

16/11/03 AWAY - INTERMEDIATE CUP - St. Marys - Lost 4-2
A good spirited game, but a bad 10 minute spell which left KWSJ 3-0 down. We battled well and could easily gone in at half time at 3-2 but only managed a single goal. A well taken goal by Mark Griffiths, but he could easily and should have scored 2. Conceded a well taken goal early in the second half to make it 4-1 then an excellent final 30 minutes showing really good team spirit but only managed to pull one goal back. A well taken penalty from veteran Nigel Whitmore who it should be known, never misses penalties.

23/11/03 HOME - LEAGUE - Chaseside Old Boys Reserves - Lost 8-1
One to forget!!! No more needs saying!!! Other than a jammy goal from Cobby!

7/12/03 HOME - LEAGUE - BBFC - Won 4-3

An excellent performance, easily our best at home. In the first half we dominated up hill and took a 2 nil lead with 2 excellent goals from Robert Cobb. 2nd half started a bit complacement but not that bad and within 20 minutues found ourselves losing 3-2. This was not a reflection of the game and when Glen Doughty equalised, there was only going to be one winner. Gavin Roberts got that with 5 minutes remaining

14/12/03 HOME - LEAGUE Southbury Rangers - Non Fulfillment
Southbury couldn't get a side out and had to postpone the game. They have since pulled out of the league so no re-match to occur

21/12/03 HOME - LEAGUE Cheshunt (Sunday) - Drew 2-2
Another excellent battling performance ans in the end gained the point that we deserved. Awful barracking from 'schoolgirls' on the sideline nearly distracted us into falling into their pathetic trap. Gavin Roberts sent off for responding to their taunts at at 2-1 down and now with 10 men, looked desparate. But with 5 minutes to go, Rob Box equalised after Glen Doughty had already reduced the deficit 15 minutes previous.
