Tansley Titans 1 X 2 Leabrooks Cougars

YOGI WAS ALL OVER THE PARK.

Before I get my car scratched, Id just like to apologise for the report being late, been a bit busy this week plus Ive lost my little black book( so sorry if the details are a bit vague)

Hands up all of you that were sat next to the phone on Friday night waiting for the text message from the Gaffa. It didnt come, so the new season was about to start ( AT 9.15 ) Suprisingly the car park and pitches didnt resemble the beach at Ingoldmells!

The cougars were up against the Titans, a team that just scraped a win over us the last time out, could we take our revenge? Oh yes.

The game started with Ben in goal, Nath,Lewis P and Jacob in defence, Max, Owen and Jake making up the strike force.

Leabrooks started brightly as usual, with efforts from Mr Peachy and Jake. It looked like we were going to draw the first blood and then it had to happen, on the counter attack the Titans made the most of the majority of our team in their half and scored a goal against the run of play.

The Cougars have been here before though, it wasnt long before we were back in their half and worrying their defence, then it came, the player that always looks like scoring ( Jake Hardy )  1 - 1 the game was on.

The first half ended, the lads came off for a well deserved drink, and the Gaffa gave a few words of wisdom.

The second half started with Harrison in goal, Nath,Lewis P and Owen in defence, Jack L, Jack S and Tommy up front.

We started well again and dare I say it never really look in a great deal of trouble, then around 10 minutes into the second half the player that likes to scare defenders ( Jack Langham ) scored the Cougars second goal and that how it ended.

Once again everyone came off the pitch giving their all especially the Man of the Match: Owen ( Yogi ) Yeomans, is there a position this lad cant play in? the answer is no. He gave full commitment to both positions and ran the non stop for the length of the game. Well done mate!

Right lads Cafa Oranges on Saturday, they are fairly low in the league but dont be fooled, we have made that mistake before, having said that we are on a roll and are now starting to play with a confidence that tells other teams we arent used to losing, so lets keep it up.

Just one final word, some of the M.A.D.s were getting a bit too excited last Saturday, if I could make a small suggestion ( maybe ask if they do Decaffinated in the clubhouse next time ) dont need to mention any names, do I Mrs *******.

Victory!

Cat fight at Cavendish!

One or two of the MADS were eagerly awaiting a phone call from the Gaffa on Saturday morning, but they didnt get the call they hoped for, the match was ON!

As expected, it was a little bit chilly up there, but everyone turned up suitably wrapped up, well done everyone! I am still amazed to see other parents and teams dressed as if it was Spring and then spending all morning moaning about the cold...

Right, a few words about the match.

Harry started as the Cougars keeper, with Lewis P, Owen and Jacob as his sentries patrolling the area! There was no way the Pumas were getting passed that line up! Up at the other end was Max, Jack Sheldon and birthday boy Jake! There was no way the Pumas could stop that line up! With Tommy and Lewis Wayne as out field subs and Ben as the keepers replacement, waiting on the touch line the Gaffa felt confident of yet another top performance from the guys, and hoped that the ballwas going to go over the line this week!

Within a couple of minutes, the lads up front were piling on the pressure with the ball just missing the net on at least 4 occaisions. A rare break through into our half saw Jacob thunder across the pitch to close down the Puma striker, the ball was quickly claimed an an inch perfect pass was delivered to Jake. The Puma defence started to push Jake out toward the touch line, which had the benefit leaving Tommy, (who had just come onto the pitch), loads of room in the Puma box! Jake spotted this and delivered a great cross which was slotted in the back of the net for our 1st goal!

Goal number 2 came from a cross by Max, which was smashed passed the keeper by Jakes left boot. this play was yet again started by our defensive line! This time Lewis had tackled the striker and played a quick pass out to the left back position where Yogi took it forward 10 yards before playing a lovely through ball to Max. Again most of the Pumas defence were drawn onto the player with the ball, leaving one of our strikers in enough space to do as they wanted.... SCORE!

Goal 3, started from a great goal kick by Ben, which was played to Jacob, a quick pass through to Jack Sheldon in the centre of the park allowed him to dodge a couple of tackles before he remembered what the Gaffa had asked him to do... "look up and look around, see if your team mates are in space", a quick look up saw Jake flying up the left wing and Tommy running the defenders ragged in the area! Jack passed the ball out wide to Jake, who put the hammer down heading toward his target. Tommy shouted for the pass, but Jake decided that a 20 yard rocket was required, and unleashed a cracking shot..... Tommy considered helping it on its way as it hurtled towards him, but made a snap decision to help it into the back of the net, by playing a superb "dummy"! He simply lept over the ball, whilst he was stood in front of the keeper, completely bamboozling the poor lad! A superb team effort yet again!

Yet again lads, you all played your very best! The only difference being that this week the ball went over the line! The goal against us, was just plain unlucky for us, there must have been 12 players in the box so the ball could have gone anywhere!

MOM this week went to Lewis Wayne. standing his ground, keeping his position and facing up to a lad twice his size just in front of the opposition supporters takes lots of courage! Well done mate, keep it up!

See you at training, or at the party on Saturday, and lets enjoy the Christmas break knowing that once again, the other teams are fearing the bite of the COUGARS!  Grrrrrr!!!

HEART BREAK IN THE CUP.

Not going to say to much this week, but before I go any further I will just say, now and again when you watch Match of the Day or any of the games on Sky if a team has lost but played really well the manager will say "I can't fault the team for the performance they gave today even though they lost". This is exactly what the Gaffa told the lads after the game on Saturday, everyone gave his all and was fully committed, it just didn't go our way.

I usually call Jacob Mr. 110%, but for this game only that title will go to every player.

We had most of the possession, most of the chances and looked the more likely to score, but at the end of the game the opposition had one shot on target and scored.

On the lighter side we has a couple of injury scares, Thomas came on and straight away put his head into a challenge, the M.A.D.s gave a sharp intake of breath, Thomas came away unscathed apart from a lump of Langer lane stuck to the side of his head. The second incident looked a bit more serious to begin with, the Gaffa knelt down to tie one of the lads laces only to get back up with the look of someone that had just been shot in the leg with an air rifle( its no fun being in your forties!)

Man of the Match: Nathan, held his position well, never let the attackers get past him and made some important challenges. Well done mate, Dad walked off the pitch with some dust in his eye( thats my excuse anyway)

And finally, what else can I say, keep playing how we are doing, keep your heads up and if we can score a few more that will help the old folks watching at the sidelines.

Good luck for this weekend lads, lets get back to that winning feeling. The Rhinos result was a massive victory a few weeks ago, lets keep that in mind and take that into Saturdays game.
