Where are they now?

Where are they now?

Plumtree Players from the past..

Mark Mattern

In an attempt to break into the lucrative US market, Plumtree recruited an American, Mark Mattern from Capital One.  A goal scoring midfielder, Mark played for Plumtree for a couple of years before he was lured away by the bright lights of London.

Charlie McMillan

A cheeky winger who played for Plumtree for a number of years.  Charlie always had more than a few words to say for himself and bizarrely almost managed to bite through his own tongue during one of his final games.  He was also lured by the bright lights of London, is now married and pursuing a career as a teacher.

Rob Hardie

Another recruit from Capital One, Rob played in the centre of defence for a couple of seasons until he left Plumtree for the US. He's still working for Capital One and is married with a baby.

Wayney

Mike Brain or 'Wayney' to his friends played for Plumtree for a few years until he was one of the last English people to be deported to Australia for crimes against dancing.  Wayney was a no nonsense old school english defender who occasionally won the ball before he put the opposition player out for a throw in.  The Irish night club still flies it's flag at half mast in recognition of the loss of one of its most valuable customers.

Richard Atkin

Despite accusations of nepotism when the manager signed his brother to play for the Tricky Trees, Richard silenced the critics by being one of our best ever players.  A tough tackling midfielder who scored the occasional goal, Richard played for a season until he decided that bed was the best place for him on a Sunday morning.  Now a dad to Archie and Louie, Richard has retired after playing for over 20 years and is looking forward to training the next generation of Atkin footballers in Archie, Louie and cousin Harry.

Sean Dyer

Sean spent years playing for Plumtree until his career was brought to an end by an inocuous tackle in a pre season friendly.  Sean badly damaged his knee and despite a successful operation, decided to call it a day before he reached 50.

Vlad Olic

Vlad 'the impaler' was one of the first Americans to play for Plumtree.  Recruited from Cap 1, Vlad played for 2 seasons and scored a couple of important goals.  He was deported back to the US, once the authorities realised that he'd only played for Plumtree to avoid the draft for the Iraq War.  Vlad still supports Nottingham Forest from his home in Washington DC and is convinced that League One denotes the top league in England.

Paul Jewell

Possibly the hairiest player to represent Plumtree and a drinking monster to boot.  Once Paul had exhausted Nottingham's supply of young females, he hotfooted it to Paris to spend a couple of years enjoying the madames and the 'je ne sais quois?'.  After a successful spell as a tester for K1664, he left Paris in search of posh tottie in London as is currently 'working' at Accenture.

Chipper

Chipper played for Plumtree back in the days when Jason had hair.  He was a mysterious character who would often turn up for games riddled with drugs from a heavy Saturday night.  A talented central defender who disturbed the opposition by playing with and showing them his 'old man' during the game.  Also known as 'Pillbox' for obvious reasons..

Phil Kirk

Captain Kirk as he was known to his team mates, played for Plumtree for a number of years until his career in Lloyds Bank took off and he had to move away from Nottingham.  A fearless defender and one of the few players to have been yellow carded during his Plumtree career.  Phil now lives in Surrey with his wife and 3 children.

Daryl Burch

One of the original Plumtree players and a goalkeeping giant.  Daryl played 150 games for Plumtree before his knees packed in and he had to retire. Last heard of teaching his son to moan at defenders just like his dad did..

Steve the Scouser

Steve played (turned up) for a couple of seasons.  A cross between Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher (in his mind only), Steve was the epitomy of a misguided footballer!  He resisted the urge to steal anything whilst playing for Plumtree until the Scouse urge couldn't be controlled any further and he had it away with a spare kit..  Probably can be found on a Saturday mindlessly signing 'You'll never walk alone (work again) at Anfield'..

Dan Ashley (Pecker)

Dan played for a few seasons in the last millennium. Equally hungover at either left back or between the sticks, there was not many weeks when he didn’t cling on to a goal post and chuck his guts up. Selected every week when available (because Jase was the manager and Dan always had a full packet of cigarettes), Dan suffered a double break to the left leg in 2000 and moved to London. He is now representing the Amateur Football Alliance, but is still playing and chucking up on a Sunday morning for a side called the Lockers.

Trevor Hardwick

Trev was another of the Rushworth Avenue great unwashed collective along with Dan Ashley, Alex Kelly, Marc Austin and Neil Gatward. A tough rotund little tackler Trev was the player most likely to get in a fight (with anyone from either team). He married his 20-something sweetheart Alex, got a diving licence and hotfooted it to Dubai where it is believed the tax inspectors have still not located him.

Marc Austin

Mr Nice Guy Marc was the sensible mature one of the Rushworth rabble and a vegetarian. His love of the beautiful game had little place in the Plumtree side and he eventually moved back to the more cultured West Country, presumably to have babies and take up egg chasing.

Neil Gatward

Loud and instantly dislikeable, it is no surprise that Neil is South African. Never much kop at football, Neil ran around a lot like a chicken trying to locate his head and was very keen. If he had hung around he might have won something like ‘most improved player’. He went to London and then Ireland, what happened after that is a mystery and is likely to remain one.
