Rising Sun 1-3 Luton Renegades

Losers!

As the sun beamed down on a glorious Sunday morning Rising’s up beat changing room spirit was soon spoilt when news hit that only 10 men would be playing the match.
This didn’t dishearten the players to much and with a 10 man team that picked itself Sun started an uptempo game against a Renegades side sitting second in the table.

The first half was won and lost in the midfield by both teams with Renegades creating the majority of chances, Sun had a few glimpses at goal but nothing to worry the Renegades keeper. With resolute defending by Rising Sun the half ended 0-0.

The second half started as the first pretty much ended. Lots of long balls and headers won in midfield. Eventually Sun made a break through on 59 minutes with Chris Wills playing a ball between Renegades left back and centre back to Smith, beating the defender with pace Smith was brought down by the last man just shy of the penalty box, but no card was shown to the somewhat wavering Renegades man.
Wayne Mardel stepped up to the free kick with memories of last weeks match against Chalton in his mind. Mardel answered critics by placing a second free kick in two games over the stranded Renegades keeper. 1-0 Sun.

On 70 minutes Chris Wills found himself with acres of space down the right wing with only the centre back in his way and Smith steaming through the centre from midfield. Another delightful ball by Wills just in front of the Sun midfielder Smith should have been slotted past the Renegades keeper for 2-0 but Smith took the ball to wide onto his left foot, got the shot away but was saved by the keeper.
Straight from the save Renegades too the ball up the other end and equalised to make it 1-1. Smith will have nightmares about that.

The hard work that Rising had put in during the first half and start of the second half was starting to show with Smith vomiting in the centre circle but was still able to play.
As sun started to tire Renegades piled on the pressure looking for a winner and on 82 minutes their pressure paid off with a wind assisted corner flying straight into the net, unlucky for Rob Burns and Carl Davies who both attempted headers to clear.

Renegades wrapped the game up in stoppage time with a breakthrough goal through the defence smashed into the corner, although Maloney felt he could of done better.
An unlucky end to a good game by Rising Sun and there will be lots of positives to take into the next game against One Nation with a hopefully full fit team.

Don't Let the Sun go down on Me

Mathew Browne

Matt Browne has answered the medias rumours regarding his future at Rising Sun FC soon to become Biscot Mill FC. In a statment released to press he was quotes as saying "I will not be playing for Rising Sun next season". His football career is in doubt with no new team mentioned. He carried on to say "I have enjoyed my football with Rising Sun and wih them every luck in the future, however they will not be as good without me".

Rumours are also knocking around over Matt Burton's future wil an alledged transfer bid coming in from another club.

Neil Bishop has apparently been in contract negotiations to fill Matt Brownes shoes in the coming season.

Chalton Athletic 6 - 3 Rising Sun F.C

Losers!

Rising Sun were knocked out out of the cup after a poor result against Chalton Athletic today. Playing against the wind Chalton shot from all angles and had two absolute flukey goals. Sun's only answer in the first half was an excellent top corner free kick from Mardel following a dubious foul. This was evened out when Chalton were awarded a penalty following another dubious call. 4-1 HT.

Rising Sun started playin slighty better in the second half and created many more chances then their opponents. Matt Browne put the ball away from a tight angle following good work. Then Burton crossed for Onyon to make it 3-4. Sun looked like they would take control of the game and finish it off, however 2 goals where scored late by Chalton on the counter attack. FT 6-3.
