NAP Deconstruction!

Victory!

Rovers Reunited started strongly against a team that showed a lack of confidence and after an early missed chance took a deserved lead on ten minutes through Paul Denton. Rovers dominated for the rest of the first half and should have been been further ahead but clear chances went begging.

As the second half wore on NAP grew in confidence and came close to looking for an equaiser but the best chances fell to Ben Sutherland and Dave Cotton who  both missed open goals! Can you believe it!!

Rovers Give Cosham The Blues!

Victory!

Rovers Reunited continued their climb up the table with a convincing drubbing of a Cosham Blues side that were never really in contention from the first whistle.

After a fifteen minute delay due to another ref no show, a stand in was found and the game got underway. Rovers were quickly into their stride with Paul Denton twice going close and Ashley Cammerer seeing a fine effort rebound back off the inside of a post. It took fifteen minutes for the first goal to arrive as fine work by Chris Yoxall set up ASHLEY CAMMERER to fire home a fine strike from the edge of the area.

Five minutes later Cosham Blues were punished after giving away a free kick just outside the box. Ben Sutherland smashed the ball goal wards and PETER COTTON deftly deflected the ball home from six yards out. Soon after it was three after Ashley Cammerer was tripped in the box and CHRIS YOXALL sent the keeper the wrong way from the spot. Cosham Blues continued to provide no attacking force and indeed hadn't even forced a corner by the end of the first period.

The Cosham management must have given their players an ear-bashing at half time as they came out showing much more intent in the second half. They had Rovers pinned back and forced a succession of corners without really threatening. Then however, they nearly got themselves back in the game following a rare mistake by Neil Whitecross in the Rovers goal but Dave Cotton scrambled back to clear off the line as the Cosham centre forward tried to bundle the ball home.

Just before the hour mark however, CHRIS YOXALL made the game safe is he latched onto a Ben Sutherland pass and the the roles were reversed as Chris Yoxall turned provider as he chased down a Patrick Johns header to cross the ball to the far post for BEN SUTHERLAND to fire home. From the resultant restart PATRICK JOHNS chased the ball all the way back to the Cosham keeper, beating him to the ball and slotting home with only his second touch since coming on as a sub following a lengthy layoff. DAVE COTTON then finished off the rout as he headed home a fine Ben Sutherland corner.

This result should now give Rovers the confidence to kick on and start challenging for at least a top four finish, starting this weekend with the visit of top of the table Denmead & Purbrook. The chance to put an end to their 100% record should be all the incentive required for this one!

AFC Ventora 2 v 3 Rovers Reunited

Victory!

Rovers Reunited finally returned to something like the form they showed last season with a fine win against third placed AFC Ventora.

After a bright start it was Ventora who took the lead catching Rovers on the break following their own freekick.

The second half started with Ventora in the ascendancy making the most of a stiff breeze at their backs but Rovers again started to gain the upper hand. This was helped by Ventora being reduced to ten men which was soon followed by some fine work and a cross by Chris Yoxall from the left being beaded home by Ashley Cammerer.

Soon after Rovers took the lead as Peter Cotton rose to head in a Ben Sutherland freekick but were then pegged back as Rovers were again caught on the break. However, with one minute of normal time remaining man of the match Paul Denton fired over a cross from the left which was again converted by the head of Ashley Cammerer to give Rovers an encouraging boost to their season.
