With Scarlets lacking much attacking flare at the minute, the gaffer decided to revert back to the 4 4 2 formation and payed off with dividends. The opening minutes saw Scarlets passing well and looking sharp. A disallowed goal from Lee Wells was wrongly chalked off by the Poolsbrook linesman (who was crap!), but the break through came shortly after, Damo playing an inch perfect ball to Ben Holmes, who timed his run to perfection to break the offside trap, left him one on one with the keeper who made the save only to fall to the feet of Ben who calmly side footed it home. 1 nil.
This seemed to wake the Poolsbrook outfit up, who started to press and play some nice football. This was rewarded with a penalty being give them, which was rather harsh against Blakey, who was adjudged to handle the ball, but it seemed more ball to hand. 1 all, the penalty cooly slotted home, sending Gaz the wrong way.
More exchanges seen the pimps start to gradually get the better of poolsbrook, and only there linesman saving them, with some suspicious decisions. But the break through came with a carbon copy of the 1st goal, only on the opposite flank. Wally took a free kick early and found another expert run from deep from Ben Jennings, who also slotted away on the second attempt. 2 = 1 to the pimps at half time!!!
Early in the second half, saw Poolsbrook starting to play, with there strikers starting to look sharp, with Gaz making a brilliant save down low to his right. A corner undid the Pimps who let a sloppy goal in. 2 all.
This just fired the pimps up, to what was an excellent second half display. A lovely team move restored the pimps lead and stranglehold of the game. A switched ball over the top from Ben Holmes, saw Jennings again beat the offside trap, with Wells for support, the ball was squared and finished off by Wells. 3 - 2
The pimps made the gap 2 from a set piece of there own. The delivery was half cleared by Poolsbrook which was put back in by Adam Josephs, which saw Wells re direct with his head, then miss a sitter, but luckily fell to Harding who slotted it home, and then starting to celebrate with a robotic dance, which went down very well!
The result was rounded off in the final minutes of the game, with a ball over the top to Wells, who held off his man, and finished in style with an impressive chip which gave the keeper no chance.
5 2 the final result, which saw the Pimps look good, and eventually start scoring goals. Could this be the start of the season for the pimps??? Lets hope so.
Also a special mention for Lee Cook, who missed the easiest chance in the world. :)!
