Southern Rangers SROB Reserves 0 v 2 saltdean sharks

Losers!

This was a disapointing game for rangers, they new that Saltdean would be tough opponents, but having had a lot of possession rangers found themselves 1 nil down on 30 minutes, with a saltdean striker unmarked 20 yards out unmarked,

he fired a low shot past  Sam into the bottom corner, 1 nil half time.

2nd half southern still with alot of the ball and pushing for an equaliser, on 50 minutes Tony Brailsford on for Pete Earl, 55 mins  saltdean keeper handles outside his box, but the ref just gives a freekick and no card to the keeper,

Stuart takes the free kick but the keeper who should have been off the pitch by now tips the ball away for a corner, 5 minuets later Saltdean skipper handles the ball in his penalty area but the ref  did not spot it.

10 minutes from time rangers lose the ball and Saltdean take advantage with a ball through to striker who beats dave downes for pace and slots the ball past Sam into far corner .

montpelier villa 0 v 2 Southern Rangers SROB Reserves

Victory!

This was a game that rangers needed to win to keep up with the teams above them,

with villa fielding a much changed side from the week before,

this was going to be a  much tougher task for the southern boys,

with villa starting the brighter and gainning most of the posetion Ashley had to

bark orders to some players who started very slowly, after half an hour rangers started to  get the control needed to take the advantage, with some good attacking football on a very poor pitch.

rangers chance came right on half time when the villa keeper came way out of his box to clear the ball, only to kick it straight at Pete Earl who shot straight into an open net via the post.

half time with some harsh words from the manager the team went out with more bite, 50mins Laurie off with a calf strain and Lewis Bussey on in his position,  60 mins in with rangers having most of the ball aball through to Dave Downes saw him fire a shot towards the villa goal Alex latched on to it with an attemted over head kick which beat the villa keeper.

on 60 mins Alex off for Tony Brailsford, final score 2  0   to southern rangers

man of the match  David Downes  with Hunter a close runner up.

well done lads  keep up the hard work!

Southern Rangers SROB Reserves 6 v 2 Montpillier Villa III

Victory!

After a disappointing recent run of form this game was a good chance for Southern Rangers to get back to winning ways.

Southern Rangers started the game brightly, dominating possession and having a stone wall penalty turned down by the referee when Sam Gorringe was brought down in the box after taking the ball past one of the MV defenders.

10 minutes in to the game the Southern Rangers possession and dominance finally paid off, Will Trueman smashing the ball in to the goal after being played in by Stewert Kirby.

A good team move saw Joe Bidwell with the chance to take on the MV defence, some skillfull play from the young winger saw him brought down in the box, the penalty was given this time, Stuart Kirby stepped up confidently and hit a powerful penalty high in to the top corner of the net, 2-0 Southern Rangers after 20 minutes.

With a comfortable lead Southern Rangers were looking for more goals, still playing the short passing football that earnt them the first two. 3 minutes after the penalty Joe Bidwell battled his way past the MV defence, with support in the box Joe showed his confidence by opting to take on an extra man and slotted the ball past the MV keeper 3-0 Southern Rangers.

On the 40th minute, with Southern Rangers looking tired after their earlier efforts were punished, a free kick on the halfway line was given away by Lourie Doutre, before the Southern Rangers defence could get organised MV played a quick free kick over the top of the SR defence to their lone striker who scored past an unfortunate Ian Dove on his long awaited come back to the club.

Half Time, 3-1 Southern Rangers.

50 minutes in Southern Rangers extended their lead to end any hoped of a MV come back, with another good team move resulting in Will Trueman scoring from a Stewart Kirby cross.

With Southern Rangers taking their foot off the gas after extending their lead they were soon punished, Ed bringing down a MV player inside the box, the penatly was struck well past Ian Dove.

Alex Curcio on for a hard working Pete Earl after 70 minutes, Southern Rangers adopting a 4-5-1 formation to see the game out.

Ed soon evaporated any memories of him giving away the penalty by  striking arguably goal of the season so far, controlling the ball just inside the MV half and smashing a magnificent strike past the helpless MV goalkeeper, 5-2 Southern Rangers after 75 minutes, game all but over.

After 80 minutes Sam Gorringe played an ambitious ball to Will Trueman from deep, who managed to get past his marker, cooley round the goalkeeper and slot the ball in past the defenders on the line from a narrow angle.

Final score: 6-2, well played lads.
