Away friendly match played on 12 September 2020.
Kicked off at 2:00 PM

At last and eagerly anticipated after six months without a game the 20 / 21 pre season finally got underway . The good news coming from the Craigshill camp was the entire squad from last season had re signed . First game was as difficult as it could have been against a experienced West Calder side packed with amatuer internationals and multiple trophy winners . The Craigshill boys looked buoyant and up for the challenge during the warm up , an inspiring team talk from the gaffer and we were ready to go . Right from the kick off you could see the guys weren't phased by there opponents who were several tiers up the football ladder . The game started fairly evenly and was littered with little mistakes and wayward passes as six months of rustiness was showing as players tried to get there bearings back . After about 15 minutes Craigshill settled down and began to play with confidence , with Kelly , Meek and Russell all dropping short to receive the ball from McDonald in goal . Nimmo and Noonan looking to break down the wing using pace . In central midfield McColgan and Bell were looking to open up the defence and provide quality to the front three of Knight , Macbrayne and Easton to put pressure on the opponents defence . There was a few chances at both ends but nothing of note and goalkeepers rarely tested . The game burst into life when West Calder were awarded a penalty when Russell was adjudged to have fouled the West Calder winger in the box . From the resultant penalty McDonald produced a world class save to keep the game at 0 - 0 . It wouldn't be long before West Calder broke the deadlock, with a bit of quality from their international striker , the question now was how would the Craigshill boys react , the answer with their own quality . Instead of sitting back and heads going down they set about finding an equaliser. After a few near misses including hitting the post a quality through ball fro. McColgan found Knight on the left hand side , he took the ball in his stride and hit an unstoppable shot into the net leaving the goalkeeper with no chance. Half Time West Calder 1 Craigshill 1 Into the second half and Craigshill introduced Avinou , Russell and McGuire into the fray . The game picked from where it finished in the first half and soon West Calder scored to make it 2 - 1 . Now it was time for Craigshill to show their nerve and come back a second time . After a few intriquet passed the ball found itself out on the right hand side and a low ball into the on rushing Macbrayne with a defender neck and neck looked like it would be a difficult task , but with a sublime dummy which completely done the defender, the striker found himself with enough space to calmly slot the ball passed passed the GK for a second equaliser for the Scots Rossanieri . Craigshill just want from strength to strength, the further introduction of O Hara and Dodds only aided the quest for victory . After about 65 minutes Craigshill took the lead after Macbrayne found Easton with a pass in the box which the striker dispatched past the GK to great euphoria from the side lines . The celebrations were short-lived as a breakaway from West Calder resulted in their third goal . The game looked like it would end in a draw, until late I. The game and with Craigsill still not willing to accept a draw McGuires first time strike from a cross from the left found the bottom corner , que wild celebrations from the side lines and a well deserved victory which shows this Craigshill Thistle side will be a force to be reckoned with in the season ahead Final Score West Calder 3 Craigshill 4 Manager Kelly said after the game how delighted he was with the victory. " I had absolute belief in the team and hopefully this result will give them belief of how good they are and how much better they can become " We still have a few things to work on , but what a great base to start from " I thought we started a bit slowly but soon got into our stride and we tweaked a couple of things at half time and bosses the game after that and I always thought we'd find a winner " Roll on next week and Whitburn FCA the next team in the list
