After the euphoria of last week's victory , it was always going to be a test of character for the boys as the came up against new team Whitburn FCA , playing in only there second ever game . Craigshill being heavy favourites kicked off . As expected Craigshill started on the front foot , a couple.of changes in the starting line up this week with J Kelly , Dodds , Avinou , O'Hara and Maguire all starting . It didn't take long for Craigshills first real chance and a long effort from Bell sailing over the bar . In the 12th minute a great slide rule pass from Dodds found O Hara at the back post and his first time effort sailed over the bar and another chance gone , something that would be a prevalent part of the afternoon. In the 18th minute another great ball from Dodds found Macbrayne and he blasted his effort wide . 2 minutes later and Macbrayne turned provider and laid the ball in for O'Hara who shot past the post . For the first 20 minutes it was constant attack from Craigshill and their failure to score would come back to haunt them only a minute later when a defensive mix up by L Kelly and Blackely let Whitburn in to score a scrappy goal after McDonald had kept out the first attempt . Craigshill were straight back on the attack and Bell played a great ball across the goal and nobody could connect to stick the ball home . Then in the 28th minute Craigshill finally got the goal that their play deserved . J Kelly found Avinou with a delightful chip and Avinou threaded the ball through to the on rushing Macbrayne who made no mistake with the finish 1-1 .Within the next four minutes Craigshill would have two chances on goal and none taken , Avinous shot saved by the keeper and Bell missed a glorious chance after a great ball by O'Hara. After 38 minutes Knight came in for an unwell looking Maguire and what an impact. First Knight set up Macbrayne but his effort was saved by Whitburn goalkeeper . Two minutes later a great long pass from Blackley found Knight on the right hand side , a couple of strides into the box and Knight unleashed a shot that found the opposite corner of the goal and Craigshill were at last in the lead . Macbrayne had another effort just before half time as Craigshill deservedly went into the break in the lead Half Time Craigshill 2 Whitburn 1 At half time Craigshill introduced Easton , Nimmo and O' Donnell into the fray as they attempted to build on there half time lead Two minutes after the restart sub Easton had an effort saved as Craigshill kept up the pressure . Easton was involved again in the 50th minute when he played a good ball down the line for O Donnell was cross ball was met by Knight only for his effort to go high over the bar . The same three players connected again Easton finding O Donnell and his ball met by Knight who shot wide . It seemed only a matter of time before Craigshill would score again and another good ball from J Kelly was missed by the attack . In the 57th minute Whitburn managed to break up the park and L Kelly misscontrolled the ball and a great tackle from Meek gave away the corner . From the resultant kick Whitburn equalised from a header .Craigshills response was immediate as they went straight up the park and scored from a long range effort from Avinou . Craigshill kept going for more and in the 65th minute O Donnell shot wide after a couple of one - two's in the box with Macbrayne . A minute later Macbraynes pass found Easton unmarked and he shot wide , 3 minutes later Easton got closer as the keeper save his shot . The inevitable goal came in the 71st minute when Easton pounced on a defensive mistake and slotted the ball home . Craigshill should have went on and won comfortable from this position and had three more good chances in the next two minutes with Knight, O Donnell and Meek squandering chance to add to the score . In 82 minutes Whitburns 4th attack in the game produced there 3rd goal . As the game petered out Blackley and Nimmo both had chances to add to the score . Final Score Whitburn 3 Craigshill 4 The victory was more comfortable than the score suggests , but should serve as a warning not to take any opponents likely and the importance of taking your chances . Overall a decent performance and we created a barrowload of chances and on another day would have scored double figures Showboat of the day Shaun O Donnell with an exquisite first touch surrounded by 3 Whitburn defenders and with a twist and turn and two stepovers comes away and plays a one two then crosses into box
