Away league match played on 21 February 2015.
Kicked off at 2:00 PM

The Accies went into the league game with Killamarsh high on confidence following their cup heroics and created enough chances to easily win the game but were forced to settle for a draw after being pegged back twice.

The early exchanges were all Academicals as they literally flowed forward with wave after wave of attack. Stan and Dan poured down the left whilst Tommy and Ryan charged down the right. Spinksy and Ben in the middle were linking up well with Jamie and Swifty and the home defence were clinging on. Dan put in a cross from the left after fine work from Stan and Ben but the defender just got a toe to it in front of Jamie. Tommy drilled a cross over from the corner and Swifty got his head to it but couldn’t direct it on target. The scoring was opened after a great move involving Ryan, Tommy and Jamie, the latter turning his man with a great piece of skill and bursting into the box (whilst being fouled!) and squaring it for Swifty; the defender did enough to put him off and Dan pounced on the loose ball to sweep it home for 1-0.

On the next move Dan found Stan on the overlap who fed it back to Dan who skinned his man and cut inside but had his shot blocked at the last by some desperate defending. Ben struck a good shot but straight at the keeper and Jamie had a half chance that was blocked for a corner, which Dan put across and was hacked away. Against the run of play Killamarsh won a free kick on the left which was taken quickly and their wide man floated a ball over which was nodded home to even up the scoring with the home team’s only effort at goal so far. The Accies were spurred on as Tommy went on a good run and played in a good ball which was narrowly overhit for 3 onrushing Accies men. Dan got to the byline and cut a ball back for Jamie who slotted it home but the former was incorrectly adjudged to be offside. Swifty then had another perfectly good goal chalked off for a foul on the keeper with none of the home players appealing. It was all getting a little frustrating.

Dan won a solid tackle on the edge of the Accies box which ran to Ben who played in Jamie for a swift counter attack. Jamie beat 2 men and squared the ball for Swifty but the despairing defender poked it into the corner of the goal before the Accies man had chance to get to it to deservedly restore the lead just before half time.

Half time Killamarsh 1 -2 Accies

Bully came on for Ryan at half time in a straight switch at right back and got involved in the action immediately, playing a good ball up the line for Swifty. The Accies seemed to momentarily lose their rhythm though and conceded a free kick that was clearly not a foul right on the edge of their own box. Their number 6 stroked it into the top corner to draw the sides level again with only their second effort at goal.

Hodder came on for Tommy with Dan switched to the right hand side and a succession of corners resulted in an effort being cleared off the line and Dan hitting the post straight from the corner. Hodder then managed to beat Bully’s record for the shortest substitute appearance and limped off within 2 minutes of coming on and Daz came on up front with Jamie dropping into midfield.

Jamie made some space on the edge of the box and his clipped cross found Swifty unmarked but he could not glance his header on target. Dan found Swifty again on the inside right of the box but with a few good options the ball was eventually hacked clear. Daz harried his defender into a mistake and put himself through on goal only to be denied by an excellent save from the keeper one-on-one and in the dying seconds the icing on the incorrect offside cake was applied as Swifty, Dan and Daz broke forward and as the ball was played the flag went up with both through on goal.

A point dropped but the Accies had enough chances to win it.
