The Accies took on a tricky Oughtibridge side at Warminster looking to complete a double over a team who have traditionaly provided stiff opposition.
Missing one or two players we still managed to put out an experienced team and it showed as we started the game with confidence. In possibly the best 1st half performance of recent years, we passed the ball crisply through the full backs, midfield and wide areas creating oportunities at will throughout the half. For all the creative possession we had, it was the team's hard work in closing down the ball that resulted in the first goal of the afternoon for Swifty. The Oughtiridge centre half getting caught in possession and allowing Swifty an opportunitist's swipe at the ball resulting in the goalkeeper being out of position, and watching the ball roll into an empty net.
The second coming from Stan was a different story. Linking well at full back with the impressive Tim Greenslade, Stan began a run deep inside the Accies half. He carried it until within yards of the opposition penalty area and unleashed a ferocious 'Toe Poke' that spun expertly into the far top corner of the net to make it '2 in 2' for Stan and 2-0 on the day.
The second half saw the visitors rally and make play a little more awkward for us but in truth Godders and the back four led by man of the match Reedy, were never troubled and the game played out 2-0 but could have easily been 6.
Sold performances all round, in particular, Shane, Reedy, Tony 'Franco Baresi' Watson and Stan keeping out everything. Well done all.....still top.
