Hackney and Leyton Sunday Football League
The Hackney and Leyton Sunday Football League is an amateur football league based in the London Boroughs of Hackney and Leyton. It was founded in 1921 and currently has over 100 teams competing in its various divisions.
History
The Hackney and Leyton Sunday Football League was founded in 1921 by a group of local enthusiasts. The league initially had just four teams, but it has since grown to become one of the largest Sunday leagues in London.
The league has been home to some notable players over the years, including former England internationals Paul Ince and John Barnes. In recent years, the league has also been used as a development league for professional clubs such as West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur.
Structure
The Hackney and Leyton Sunday Football League is divided into four divisions: the Premier Division, Division One, Division Two, and Division Three. The top two teams in each division are promoted at the end of the season, while the bottom two teams are relegated.
The league also has a cup competition, the Hackney and Leyton Sunday Cup. The cup is open to all teams in the league, and the final is usually played at Hackney Marshes.
