The Hitchin Sunday Football League is an amateur football league based in Hitchin, Hertfordshire, England. It was founded in 1972 and currently consists of 20 teams. The league plays its matches on Sunday mornings during the winter months.
History
The Hitchin Sunday Football League was founded in 1972 by a group of local football enthusiasts. The league initially consisted of just 10 teams, but it has grown steadily over the years and now boasts a membership of over 300 players.
The league has been home to some talented players over the years, including former professional footballers such as Paul Lambert and Mark Robins. The league has also produced a number of England internationals, including Gary Neville and Ashley Cole.
Current Season
The current season of the Hitchin Sunday Football League is the 49th season. The league is currently sponsored by The Anchor Inn, Hitchin. The current champions are The Flying Pigs, who won the title in the 2021-22 season.
