The Medway Messenger Sunday Football League was founded in 1972 by a group of local football enthusiasts. The league started with just 10 teams, but it has grown steadily over the years and now has over 50 teams.
The league is named after the Medway Messenger, a local newspaper that has been covering the league since its inception. The newspaper provides coverage of all the league's matches, as well as news and features about the league and its teams.
