Tamworth & District Sunday Football League

The Tamworth & District Sunday Football League is an amateur football league based in Tamworth, Staffordshire, England. It was founded in 1922 and currently has 30 clubs competing in three divisions.

History

The Tamworth & District Sunday Football League was founded in 1922 by a group of local football enthusiasts. The league started with just six teams, but it has grown steadily over the years and now has 30 clubs competing in three divisions.

Tamworth & District Sunday Football League action

The league has been home to some famous players over the years, including former England internationals David Platt and Andy Cole. Platt played for Tamworth Town in the 1980s, while Cole played for Tamworth Athletic in the early 1990s.

Current Structure

The Tamworth & District Sunday Football League currently has three divisions: Premier Division, Division 1, and Division 2. The Premier Division is the top division, followed by Division 1 and Division 2.

Each division plays a double round-robin format, with each team playing each other team twice. The top team in each division at the end of the season is promoted to the next division, while the bottom team in each division is relegated to the next division.

Cup Competitions

The Tamworth & District Sunday Football League also runs a number of cup competitions, including the Chairman's Cup, the Colin Grazier Memorial Cup, and the Dosthill Cup.
