Wakefield Schools League
The Wakefield Schools League is an amateur football league for schools in the Wakefield district of West Yorkshire, England. It was founded in 1920 and currently has over 100 teams competing in a variety of age groups.
History
The Wakefield Schools League was founded in 1920 by a group of local teachers who wanted to provide a competitive footballing outlet for their students. The league initially consisted of just a few teams, but it has grown steadily over the years and now has over 100 teams competing in a variety of age groups.
The league is divided into several divisions, with each division having its own set of promotion and relegation rules. The top division is the Premier Division, followed by the First Division, Second Division, and so on.
Current Season
The current season of the Wakefield Schools League is the 2022-2023 season. The Premier Division is currently being led by Outwood Grange Academy, followed by Trinity Academy Cathedral and St Thomas a Becket Catholic School.
The league also has a number of cup competitions, including the League Cup, the Challenge Cup, and the Junior Cup.
