Home friendly match played on 15 August 2021.
Kicked off at 11:30 AM

A real tough week this week, we lacked energy and urgency for the first half of the game and really struggled to get going with half of the players in full on holiday mode????

This will be some very easy things for us to fix which we will be working on at training.

The final score I found out from Wrekin was 7-3. So a four goal defecit.

When we woke up for the final quarter of the game we had some brilliant link up play and running and some real passion about being beat. Now getting beat is never nice but it looked as if it fired the boys right up Chasing Wrekin down and putting everything into it.

Leo had a tough game with shots quite frankly he could do nothing about as they were top bins 5 out of the 7 goals, Leo made one fantastic save to push it out wide. When playing outfield Leo gave everything he could and was up and down the right hand side.

Logan has got an injured foot but true to his nature he was desperate to play, Logan filtered in and out of the game and was his usual tenacious self up and down the left hand side. Unfortunately the injury was causing to much discomfort when added with a knock to the knee and ended the day for Logan.

Alex a game of Jekyll and Hyde first 30 minutes I think his mind must of been on what he was going to do after football, the final 30 minutes saw the Alex to which we have known. Snapping at ankles winning balls and big clearances shot from the half way line was an absolute bullet but just wide.

Reeve very similar to Alex looked a bit rusty, and made some simple mistakes. Roll on the final 30 minutes and completely different running up and down the line winning balls, tackling, passing and finishing the game off with a really well placed right footed curler into the bottom right hand corner.

Levi the man mountain in the middle, lots of running and some excellent tackling in the middle of the park and lots of hard work.

Tyreece ran a lot and worked hard had some great breaks down the right almost added a goal to his debut in the first half but his rocket of a shot was just over. Ended the game with an assist with the pass to reeve.

Jacob used his body well and added another two goals too his tally, the first running onto a through ball from Luke and finished confidently. Second goal came from all his hard work in chasing down and to keep going slotting calmly to the keepers right.

Luke another in the mixer for a 50/50 game, through ball for his assist was superb, weighted perfectly think Luke had pulled his hip in the first 2 mins of the second quarter so this probably didn't help matters with Luke.

Arthur put in a full energy all action performance getting stuck in and letting players know he was there, Arthur had three excellent chances which is really good news going forward as this is one of the harder traits of the game to learn to find that space. Because of Arthur's non stop running and work rate he showed the rest of the team what we need to be doing going forward which won him the man of the match trophy.

Overall I'm not fussed on the result as 3/4 of those goals were from simple mistakes that we had created, this is down to a few factors this is only our second game, we were trying players in new positions, and finally we lacked a bit of effort from the players.

We have plenty of positives, after the 2nd goal went in I saw all the boys grouping together High fiving and jumping around this was great to see in such a short period of time.

We had some excellent passing plays I think I counted one play where we had 9 passes from back to front this was great to see.

We were starting to click and returned back to last week in parts and it will be about making that consistent which we are sure we can do with the players, one thing I will say is we will be playing on much bigger wider pitches than this one which will be so much more beneficial to the way our team plays.

Anyway onwards and upwards and roll on the next game!!!
