FGS Benfica Girls was founded in 2015 by a group of parents who wanted to provide their daughters with the opportunity to play football. The team started out with just one team, but has since grown to include teams in all age groups from U7s to U18s.

The team has enjoyed a lot of success in its short history. In 2017, the U10s team won the Merseyside and Halewood Junior Football League Cup. The U12s team also won the league cup in 2018.
