Godalming Town Football Club

Godalming Town Football Club is a semi-professional football club based in Godalming, Surrey, England. They are currently members of the Southern Combination Division One and play at the Bill Kyte Stadium.

History

The club was founded in 1950 as Godalming United FC by ex-pupils of Godalming Grammar School. They played at the Recreation Ground until 1971, when they moved to Wey Court, the former ground of Surrey Senior League side Farncombe. In 1975, the club changed its name to Godalming Town FC.

The club enjoyed a period of success in the 1980s, winning the Surrey Senior Cup in 1983 and 1985. They also won the Isthmian League Division Two in 1988, earning promotion to Division One.

Godalming Town spent the next 10 years in Division One, before being relegated to Division Two in 1998. They bounced back to Division One in 2000, but were relegated again in 2003.

The club spent the next 10 years in Division Two, before being relegated to the Combined Counties League Premier Division in 2013. They were promoted back to Division Two in 2015, and then to Division One in 2017.

Current season

Godalming Town are currently in their second season in the Southern Combination Division One. They finished 12th in the league last season.

The club's current manager is Danny Bloor, who was appointed in 2021. Bloor is a former player of the club, and has also managed Farnborough Town and Eastleigh.

The Southern Combination Football League is an English football league in the south of England. It is currently in the ninth tier of the English football league system.

The league was founded in 1920 as the Sussex County League. It was renamed the Southern Combination League in 1977.

The league consists of three divisions: Division One, Division Two, and Division Three. The top two teams in Division One are promoted to the Isthmian League Division One South, while the bottom two teams in Division One are relegated to Division Two.
