The club was founded in 1921, and have won the Derbyshire Cup on two occasions, in 1922 and 1976. They have also won the Central Midlands Football League Division One on one occasion, in 2008.
History
The club was founded in 1921, by a group of men who had served in the First World War. The club's first ground was on the Recreation Ground in Wirksworth, but they moved to their current ground, Ivanhoe Park, in 1925.
The club's most successful period was in the 1970s, when they won the Derbyshire Cup in 1976 and the Central Midlands Football League Division One in 1978. They have also reached the final of the Derbyshire Senior Cup on three occasions, in 1975, 1977 and 1981.
Recent seasons
The club have been playing in the Abacus Lighting Central Midlands Alliance League since 2008. They have finished in the top half of the table in recent seasons, and reached the final of the league cup in 2019.

The league consists of two divisions, the Black Dragon Premier Division South and the Black Dragon Premier Division North. The champions of each division are promoted to the Northern Counties East Football League Division One, while the bottom two teams in each division are relegated to the Central Midlands Football League Division One.
The league's current champions are Belper Town, who won the Black Dragon Premier Division South in 2022-23.
