Home league match played on 06 September 2009.
Kicked off at 10:00 AM

Until Sunday, April 2006 was the last time Abberley Vale won 3 games in a row (not including double headers)!

Our fixtures of late may not have seen us playing the toughest of opponents but 15 goals for and only one conceded (In the last three games) must mean that we are doing something right. We have in fact played some pretty good football at times and we’ve had an end product for some of our moves recently.

Last season saw us beat Hamilton ten nil at home and record our highest win of the season. It was only seven this time around but still enough to be our highest win of the season so far.

Maverick was unavailable for the game but fortunately Simmo was available to slot in for him. The rest of the team remained the same from our previous game. Chuff likes to stick with a winning team by the looks of it!!!!

Silk lost the toss and as a result we found ourselves playing into a strong wind in the first half. It did however mean that we had the kick off and therefore able to set the tone with some good possession football. Jyla had other ideas though…… Straight from the kick off he played a defence splitting ball that saw the ball shoot straight past Silk and out for a corner to Hamilton! It was certainly a different way to start the game and one that we may not use again in the future (although I won’t rule it out)!

Hamilton enjoyed a small amount of possession after their early corner and had a few long range efforts that hit the target, but nothing came of it. After the opening ten minutes we started to create more and more chances ourselves and after about twenty minutes we managed to open the scoring. Shirley reacted first after a goalkeeping error. It was not to be the keeper’s last mistake of the game!!

The first goal was always going to be the most difficult and unlike when we played Hillgrove, we soon began to build on our lead. Jyla scored the 2nd after showing a great first touch and a composed finish.

The goals seemed to come at regular intervals after that. Some of them being a result of some really good football. Silk scored his usual stunning free kick (a complete miss hit that bobbled over the keeper. Arguably the worst free kick to ever find the back of the net. Although in actual fact it might not have had enough power to progress from the goal line to the back of the net).

Ric Allen Fallows came off the bench for us and proceeded to kick the floor when trying to pass the ball. Pants came off the bench and very nearly scored the best own goal in history! To be fair to Pants though – he hadn’t had much sleep the night before (Good luck Wednesday Droopy Draws – Try and make a mends)!

*INJURY NEWS*

Thompson should be fit for our game this Sunday, after being hit several times by the ball in the closing minutes.

*NOTE TO PLAYERS (Shirley)*

As crazy as it is: We do play in the rain!
