Away league match played on 15 November 2009.
Kicked off at 10:00 AM

So away to the bottom of the league… They had conceded 51 goals in their first 6 games. Hadn’t picked up a single point and had only managed to score 3 goals (The same as us actually if you take our ‘own goals’ away) all season.

Vale had a big squad to select from once again. Pants suffered as a result and was dropped (also due to the fact he had a shocker the week before)!

As one would expect from the two lowest teams in the Kidderminster and District league, both teams started poorly. After a forgettable 15 minutes Vale did manage to break the deadlock though. A corner from our left delivered in low by Gay (for a change) ended up being bundled over the line by Simon. 1-0.

A few more chances came our way in the remaining minutes of the first half but the score stayed as it was till half time. The most significant event of the first half was not our goal though, but of the career ending injury to Pascy. After about 30 minutes, Pascy turned his ankle over and went down like he’d been shot. ‘Severe ankle ligament damage’! Although many of us didn’t believe him at the time, Pascy has now retired from our beautiful game. He will never pull on the famous colours of Abberley Vale again!

So next time you watch Peter Ebdon playing snooker, enjoy a boiled egg for breakfast, sit down and watch The Crystal Maze, be sure to take a minute out and think about…. the one… the only…… Andrew Logan!

HT 1-0

The 2nd half saw Vale on top again and creating the chances. This was despite us not playing well and showing zero composure!

Chances came and went but we were unable to capitalise. Gaylo put several great balls across their 6 yard box but no one was anywhere to be seen. Gaylo was in fact our stand out player on the day, but his own finishing let him down. He had several great chances to score but either the post or the keeper denied him.

So the game progressed to the 60th minute with Vale still leading by the solitary goal. Surely we would take one of our chances soon and make it 2….. Nope, the ref gave a free kick against Silk and their substitute promptly smacked it into the top corner (The only bit of ability they showed in the entire 90 minutes).

Despite several more chances falling our way, the game ended 1-1.
