Abbey Villa F.C 2nd Team travelled to Grosvenor Community Centre on 3rd October 2026 for their league away fixture against Immaculata F.C 2nds, kicking off at 2:00pm. Despite a late consolation goal, Abbey Villa were defeated 3-1 in a match that saw them struggle to contain their opponents. The referee for the 90-minute contest, plus added time, was Peter McAuley.
Abbey Villa lined up in a 4-3-3 formation, aiming to balance defensive solidity with attacking width. Ross Murray took his place between the sticks as goalkeeper, protected by a back four comprising James Edwards at right back, Joshua Colville and Jude Strain as central defenders, and Curtis Williamson on the left. The midfield trio featured Lewis Shaw on the right, Kyle Irwin centrally, and Carson Mann on the left, tasked with linking play and supporting both defence and attack. Up front, Thomas Drysdale operated on the right wing, Ben Devany led the line as striker, and David Clarke provided pace and creativity from the left forward position. Dawid Wieczorek and Jake Livingstone were named among the substitutes.
The visitors found themselves behind early on when Immaculata opened the scoring in the 11th minute, setting the tone for a challenging afternoon. Abbey Villa’s defence was tested from the outset, with Immaculata’s attacking intent clear. The match took a dramatic turn in the 34th minute when an Immaculata player was shown a red card for violent conduct, reducing the hosts to ten men. Despite this numerical advantage, Abbey Villa were unable to capitalise before the break, and the teams went in at half time with Immaculata leading.
Abbey Villa made a tactical substitution shortly after the restart, with Dawid Wieczorek replacing Ben Devany in the 51st minute, signalling a shift in attacking approach. However, Immaculata extended their lead just three minutes later, scoring again to make it 2-0. Abbey Villa’s defensive resilience was further tested as central defender Jude Strain received a yellow card in the 64th minute, adding to the pressure on the backline.
Another tactical change came in the 75th minute when Jake Livingstone came on for Carson Mann, as Abbey Villa sought to inject fresh energy into their midfield. Despite these efforts, Abbey Villa’s defence was caught out once more in the 87th minute, conceding a third goal due to a defensive mistake. The visitors’ hopes of a comeback appeared slim at this stage.
In stoppage time, Abbey Villa managed to pull a goal back through Thomas Drysdale, who finished with a simple tap-in to give his side a late consolation. Although the goal came too late to alter the outcome, it provided a glimmer of encouragement for the visitors. Ultimately, Abbey Villa F.C 2nd Team were unable to overturn the deficit and left Grosvenor Community Centre with a 3-1 defeat to Immaculata F.C 2nds.
