Home cup match played on 09 November 2013.
Kicked off at 10:00 AM

The second group game of the Balgay Cup and after another hard fought victory, one more win in the remaining two games should see us qualify for the semi-finals. We started this match with a 3-1-4-2 formation with young Liam starting his first match for the Harleys.

            Jamesy

   Bogger, Tam, Sharpy

            Fyffee

Darren, Ryan, McBee, Liam D

        Ecky, Mitch

Subs; Craig, Liam M, Jack, Millsy, Gareth

We were a bit flat and took a while to get going in the opening exchanges and it was our opponents who had the better of the ball but we went ahead slightly against the run of play when Tam played a great long through ball and Mitch got on the end of it before coolly lobbing the ball over the keeper and into the net. We grew in confidence from this goal and were soon two ahead when Ecky set up Mitch to score his second of the game. We were now in control of the game and it looked like we would go on to win the game comfortably, but they got back into it just before the break when they were awarded a penalty which they should never have been awarded as the foul was committed at least 3 yards outside the box but the referee pointed to the spot and former Harleys player Danny Terry scored from the resulting penalty.

HT 2-1

That goal just before the break gave our opponents confidence and they eventually got the equaliser although again they got a good bit of fortune with the goal, when it looked like Jamesy would easily cut out a harmless looking cross into the box but Sharpy who loves to score the odd comical O.G got there first and prodded the ball into his own net. We were now on the back foot and were put under pressure for a spell as they looked to take the lead and they had a few corners in succession  with a couple of decent chances but we weathered the storm and it was in fact us who re-took the lead when Jamesy got his third assist in as many games with a long ball up top and Mitch brought the ball down with his back to goal and turned the defender before firing in for his hat-trick to cap off another fine performance and the big man is back to his very best. They then had a couple of chances to level it up again but were denied firstly by a goal line clearance by big Darren then by a wonder save from Jamesy as he somehow managed to tip a shot over the bar which looked destined for a goal all the way. We then wrapped up the points with a great team move, after some good lead up play the ball fell to McBee and he played a great through ball for Craig who beat the offside trap to score. In the final minute Craig then turned provider for McBee to make it five.

FT 5-2
