Home cup match played on 12 October 2008.
Kicked off at 10:30 AM

Boythorpe went into this game with a slightly depleated squad, due to work, injuries and holidays, nevertheless they put up a much better performance than the last outing. And from the off took the game to the visitors from Ripley. Boythorpe constantly got behind the P.J's back four who were saved by some over zealous flag waving by the aways "LINO". It was as early as the 7th min that the blues front men got their first near miss. Dan Jones was put clear after a great ball by goodwin, but his well saved effort fell to wright, who put narrowly wide. The home side didnt have it all their own way however and on 10 mins a peach of a cross from the right touchline eluded whitehead but the visitors striker steered his shot wide, when well placed. This then started a spell of sustained pressure by the blues and on 12 mins a cross found Jones free, who fed wright, who unluckily clipped the post with the keeper beaten, the same player shortly after produced some good work down the left, found walton who in turn fired just over. Wright was becoming a thorn in P.J's side, and was felled just outside the box moments later. Walton stepped up and sent his effort AGAIN inches over with the keeper flapping. This just served as a warning of his intentions and in the 18th minute a throw from goodwin on the right caused panic in the defence and WALTON put away his chance with confidence. The midfielder was again in the thick of the action moments later when a clearance from jones found him again and he beat the keeper, and unfortunatly the crossbar with his crisp effort. Another walton free kick caused a goalmouth scramble when the visitors keeper failed to hold the ball. On 29 mins possibly the moment of the game occured when the home keeper, potter made the save of the season, diving low to his right through a crowded penalty area to push away a header from a P.J's corner. On 32 minutes Boythorpe increased their lead after goodwin found WRIGHT who put away his chance to claim his 11th goal in 13 starts. More sustained home pressure followed with walton putting widerman clear, but he took too long and was eventually crowded out. The defence showed the strain and when whitehead put hollindale clear, he was crudely hacked down. After he had dusted himself down HOLLINDALE latched onto another goalkeeping error and finished with the defence this time going "missing" . The visitors were given some much needed relief and they were pleased to hear the refs whistle. HALF TIME...Boythorpe 3 P.J's 0.

The 2nd half started very much as the other had ended, with a clever free kick PASSED round the visitors 4 man wall but sadly ended up in the side netting. Walton however didnt let up giving the visitors a hard time and an audacious shot from 40 yards on the hour left the keeper grasping at thin air. P.J's still were not done though and on 63 mins raced clear of the home back four, but shot wide. Boythorpe put the game way out of reach on 66 mins from a free kick quickly taken by the smart thinking wright , who passed to WIDERMAN beyond the defensive wall and although it "clipped" whitehead on the way in, it was allready desitined to go in the net. P.J's nearly gifted Boythorpe a fifth by nearly scoring an "own goal". From the resulting corner by walton, Lee Whitehead and Shaun Goodwin decided to play head tennis in the visitors 6 yd box with the latter heading over. The only black spot of the day for Boythorpe came on 75 min, when wright was cautioned for questioning an offside decision. On 79 mins James Stubbs replaced Hollindale, as the game drew to a close. Boythorpe began to lose a bit of shape in the final 10 mins, but the game was well over by then. FINAL SCORE...Boythorpe 4 P.J's 0.
