Home league match played on 23 October 2011.
Kicked off at 12:30 PM

The start of the October half term and 5 of the team were away enjoying their hols, into the breach stepped an ready and able Dan and Christian also came to help out to give the minimum 7 required. The first half saw Josh take his turn in goal with Dan and Joel shoring up the back, Brendan and Christian went in the middle and Jake and Mya took to the wings. Jake was feeling a little poorly but kept going right through the match. The game started well and the Rockets started the passing and Brendan and Christian were putting the Tornados under good pressure. Mya was working well and Jake had some early runs into the opposite half. The big pitch was going to influence the result even though Crewe had a bare 7 as well. Joel and Dan were soon employed as the ball broke into the Rockets half and soon the goal was under thrreeat. Josh made 2 great saves in succession but a lose pass from the back and the Tornados pounced to poke the ball home. 0-1 and the Rockets were behind. As usual the Rockets kept going and enjoyed the majority of the game, Mya and Jake created problems and Brendan had a great game covering a lot of ground. Christian was running the defence ragged and was really enjoying the space. It wasn't long before a couple of Rockets efforts were well saved by an impressive Crewe keeper. Still the Rockets pressed and the ball broke to Brendan who flicked the ball up and volleyed from 15 yards into the top of the net, a real stunner! 1-1 all square. Into the second half and Dan took the gloves, Mya and Joel kept the sweep role and Josh went to the wing. Christian, Brendan and Jake all continued the same and the Rockets picked up were they left off. Right through the second period the Rockets continued to press with Brendan and Christian were unlucky not to score, Jake was still feeling poorly but soldiered on and Josh had some great runs down the line. The Tornados still had the odd break and against the play a scramble in the box and a toe poke and the ball creeped over the Rockets line 1-2 Crewe, an unlikely scoreline.  The Rockets continued to press and the goal keeper from Crewe was tested on a couple of occasions, a series of corners and their defence was under constant pressure. Jake was still going despite his cold, Christian and Brendan a constant menace, Josh was enjoying good dribbling and Mya and Joel dealt with any isolated attacks whilst joining the pressure the other end. Into the closing stages and another Rocket corner was met by a firm header from Jake only to find the inspired keeper leaping to turn the ball round the corner. The game ended with the Rockets on the attack again but unable to beat the keeper and the resilient defence. The Rockets deserved something and the makeshift side all played really well and tried their best. An unlucky result but we will bounce back next week against the same team. Well played all and hard luck, we were unlucky not to at least draw!
