Away tournament match played on 23 May 2010.
Kicked off at 12:00 AM

It was the final games of the year for the Tigers, on what was to be the hottest day of the year so far.  With a depleted squad missing Alex, Lol, and Bryan, we were thankful for the short notice availability of Charlotte in goal (with a MoM winning performance) and Ben Hinbest who enjoyed his first games for the Tigers after training tirelessly all year with the squad.

Tournament can be tough games.  The changes to the rules, playing on grass, short game formats, and playing against well organised teams who play with a winning mentality, all went against us today.  The Tigers were slow out of the blocks in match 1 & 2 against much better opposition, losing both games to nil.  With some changes in match 3 & 4, we shored things up at the back and improved our style of play, the team being rewarded with 0-0 draws in these games.  As we pushed for a win in match 5, we left ourselves exposed at the back and lost the final game 1-0.  Our failure to score goals has been our achilles heal all year, and with no real shots on goal by any player, our ability to win games was restricted.

It was a great day enjoyed by all, the players finishing the day with ice creams and endless goes on the inflatable slides and pirate ship.

Our thanks go to all the players for their individual contribution to the team this year, and the parents/supporters for their encouragement and support for the team.  A special mention must also go to Bryan, who after the obvious disappointment of missing the cup final through an untimely warm-up injury, was recognised as the Tigers “players player of the year” on Saturday at the clubs “end of season” presentations.  Well done!!

Finally, as we enter the closed season, all training has now stopped.  It is a good time to let all our players have a rest from football, and spend time enjoying the summer months having fun!!  The texts and emails will quieten down for a while as we catch our breath, with the intention of pre-season training re-commencing early Sept after the league dates are confirmed for next year.  All existing Tigers players will be registered for the team and ASC league (U10 Div 2) next year.

Diary date: Tue 13th July (ASC presentation night – Crewe Alex Stadium)

Many thanks for your continued support.
