Away league match played on 06 March 2010.
Kicked off at 12:00 AM

Apart from a friendly that we lost 5-4 we hadn’t played High Brooms for a few years.  They were sitting a few places above us in the league and boasted some well know names in their squad.

Proceedings got off to a bad start as super sub Chris Piper John Badger injured himself in the warmup, it was a flashback to the Piper of old.  We started the game with a slightly different look to the side, Clarkie was filling in at Centre mid with Baylo and Axel was deputising at left back.

We took the lead after and lovely goal from Craaaaaig, finishing beautifully in of the post.  After some long periods of pressure we doubled the lead. A corner from the right causing all kinds of problems for the Casuals back four and eventually Woggles poked it home.  We had chances either side of the half to wrap things up but couldn’t build on the two goal lead.  Then one of those freak footballing phenomenon’s occurred.  A long punt forward bounced in the box, something that would not normally trouble the Brown Bear in the sticks but this time it bounced freakishly high and over the keepers head, he tried to back track and scoop it away but the Casuals front man beat him to it and headed it in.  Again the B&A boys dug in and created chances but couldn’t finish them off.

The ref was ready blow up and the 3 points were looking in the bag until a cross field ball bounced uncomfortably for Axel and it struck his arm.  The ref awarded a free kick on the edge of the 18 yard box.  Up steps Mucky Funnel......to curl it into the bottom left hand corner.  Great goal but really hard to take.  On the day we were the better side  and all felt we deserved all three points.  The upside is that we have them again next week and have a chance to get back.
