Home league match played on 22 October 2015.
Kicked off at 7:00 PM

Winter is coming. It isn't here yet by any stretch, but the last week of daylight savings has passed and the evening temperatures are dropping. Not bring-out-yer-winter-coat cold, but certainly in ooooh-let's-dust-off-the-autumn-jacket territory. Which in my book is perfect footballing weather, and we certainly played perfect football against DECC, thumping them 8-2 with a brand of liquid football that was unstoppable. Steve Weir was quoted as saying "the best we've ever played", but I for one am not falling for his pathetic attempt to try and cover up the fact he shipped two goals whilst on the pitch, despite us having a very strong lineup:

Tys

Andy Sam Steve Stu

Ben Neil Phil Alessandro

Tony Punter

The first put us 1-0 down (of course), and was an oggie from Sam, I think Molby hit it into him and the ricochet dribbled past Tys in goal. We equalised shortly after, Tony on the turn very adroitly slipping Ben's through ball past the keeper at the near post.

They then went 2-1 up, I can't remember it as I was busy standing around doing nothing up the other end being a striker (that's what strikers do, yeah?). I'm sure it was soft soft soft SOFT though, I even think we might have conceded from the kick off AGAIN. Or perhaps we scored from the kick off? Yeah, maybe that was it. I don't know. The game was so long ago now.

Ben brought things to 2-2 with a scramble after a defensive mistake, and from that point on we dominated. A thumpingly perfect Ben header from a Tony corner (with a bow on it) gave us the lead, and I adroitly slipped Alessandro's cross past the keeper at the near post. Their keeper really needs to get his angles sorted.

4-2 at half time, and we really smashed them in the second half, Alessandro scoring two (one a tap-in from a defensive scramble, the other a great header from a peach of a cross from Ben), Tony scoring from a Phil assist, and Phil actually scoring for once with a delightfully placed stooping header from another peach of a cross, this time from Neil.

We could have had more - Intertoto is on the record as stating "Punter missed a hatful of sitters", so good luck getting a pass from me this evening, pal - and the truth is we may well have, we lost count at one point.

MotM is a toughie as everyone played really well. Even Tys got in on the act with a superb Neuer-esque save right at the death, rushing out to block a one-on-one with his legs. Ben is obviously the leading contender, but he got panned in last week's match report and responded with two goals and two assists, so in the interests of man management I simply must ignore him. Treat 'em mean, keep 'em keen. Thus the award goes to Steve. He finally conceded, not just once, but TWICE and will no doubt be distraught, so let's give him a little cheer-up eh?

There's no SubWatch as I went home to pack for a trip to Prague. Steve demanded I return with some stories, but I failed miserably as no one is interested in hearing about my Mum's boring friend Di crap on about her trip to Nuremberg. I certainly wasn't.
