Boys Brigade Old Boys v St. Peters

BBOB made it three wins in three in a hard-fought encounter with struggling St. Peters. There were key players missing in key positions, BBOB adjusted well and took control of the game early on and survived an early scare as their main forward somehow broke through the BBOB defence from a ball over the top, his fierce drive rattled the cross bar and luckily bounced back out to be cleared for a corner. Striker Jac Edwards had the best chance in the opening stages with a shot fired wide from the edge of area after some good build up play in the BBOB midfield.

Piotr Czernicki-Sochal, starting his first game, gave BBOB the lead in the 18th minute after the ball fell kindly for him, from Luke, just inside the opposition's area, his looped shot eluded the St. Peters keeper and dropped into the net.

After more control and possession from BBOB chances fell once again to Piotr Czernicki-Sochal and Jac Edwards but they were unable to beat the impressive St. Peters keeper. BBOB did double their tally in the 28th minute from a quick attack down the left involving left back Paul Barton and Jac Edwards. Left winger Dan Buchanan was found in space, he beat his marker to cut inside and place his cross to right winger Ben Middleditch to tap the ball into the net from just inside the six-yard box.

Half time 2-0

BBOB started the second half slowly, St. Peters pushed an extra man forward and became more direct and BBOB started to struggle with this tactic. In the 652nd minute St. Peters reduced the deficit from a free kick on the edge of the area (which appeared to be a harsh decision on the BBOB defender, Joe Howard who collected a yellow card for his efforts), the perfectly placed kick was smashed into the top corner and beyond the reach of 'stand in' keeper John Howard.

Early goal scorer Piotr Czernicki-Sochal was replaced by Seb Woolf in the 61st minute. The game remained competitive and the next goal could have easily come from BBOB, but St.Peters were able to get their equaliser in the 76th minute from a long ball over the top of the BBOB defence into the path of their striker who placed his low drive beyond the BBOB keeper.

BBOB responded perfectly as just a few minutes later, the ball fell kindly to midfielder Howard Lloyd 25 yards from goal and he fired the ball into the far left top corner of the St.Peters goal with the keeper at full stretch.

BBOB held strong after this and created more goal scoring opportunities, once again Jac Edwards had a good chance to score but fired his effort over the bar. And some great work down the right, followed by a teasing cross by right back Joe Howard somehow didn't find a BBOB shirt to make sure of the result. Late on Ben Middleditch was replaced by Joe Marshall.

A small amount of pressure from St. Peters almost forced an equaliser but the BBOB defence were able to clear their lines as the final whistle went!

Full time BBOB 3 St. Peters 2

This was far from a perfect performance; it was a good and hard fought win against stubborn opposition who were desperate for a win. BBOB had regular players missing and had to adjust accordingly, winning this game has shown how the confidence throughout the squad has increased over the last few weeks and also shows that this is the best BBOB squad Steve has had available to him for quite some time. 3 wins in a row and 12 goals scored in those three games surely suggests this?!
