Home cup match played on 30 April 2009.

Lion reached the Cannock Charity Cup final with this low key victory over plucky lower divison opponents St Mary's. From the start Lion attacked relentlessly but despite creating several scoring chances it seemed no one was prepared to takthe the final step and actually put the ball in the net. Both Matty H and Pitchy were creating problems for the St Mary's defence with their pace down either flank but the St Mary's goalie defied the Lion's strke force on several occasions. Then two mintes before half time another Pitchy forage down the left produced a Lion corner. From the resultant Pitchy corner JR rose unchallenged to head the ball into an unguarded net to open the scoring for Lion. The second half continued in much the same vein with Lion producing many fruitless attacks. St Mary's did venture into the Lion half on a few occasions but any threat was well nullified by the central defensive pairing of Wezzy and Danny Kazoks. There were no late alarms and Lion quietly progressed into the final against Heath Hayes next Friday.
