Albury Saints 0 vs 8 Brewer F.C.

<p> <p class="MsoNormal">Brewer Locomotive Steams through Albury <p class="MsoNormal"> <p class="MsoNormal">After last week&rsquo;s demolition job of Sawford Heath, Brewer looked to their first away game of the season against Albury Saints. <p class="MsoNormal">It was always going to be hard to live up to last week&rsquo;s performance and the away side proved this by starting very slowly. Albury were trying to catch Brewer out with a physical and direct long ball game and for the first 15mins or so, Brewer were under pressure and needed to wake up. Fortunately the defensive trio of Honour, Sutton (captain in Reed&rsquo;s absence) and Felstead backed up by return of number 1 keeper Webster were solid and withstood the aerial bombardment. <p class="MsoNormal">It needed someone to grab the game by the scruff of the neck and who better than leading scorer Cox who latched on to Bush&rsquo;s smart through ball and rolled the ball in to the bottom corner for 1-0. Deadlock broken! The question is would Brewer now push on from this point and start to play the brand of football they have showed in previous games this season? <p class="MsoNormal">They did (unfortunately for Albury) and all of a sudden the tempo was upped. Brewer were making chances only for them to nearly be caught out at the other end by yet another long ball and goal mouth scramble which resulted in a truly world class save from Webster to deny his old team. <p class="MsoNormal">Scare over and once again Brewer pressed looking for their 2nd goal, Bush come close with a spectacular 40 yard lob only to be denied by the angle and saw Albury clear for a corner. A decent ball in by Croft set panic in to the home team&rsquo;s defence and they struggled to clear the ball which in turn fell to Cox on the edge of the box who curled the ball in to the top corner with his weaker left foot for 2-0! <p class="MsoNormal">Brewer had well and truly woken up now and a superb move started and finished by Jiggins after some skilful play between Cox and Watts saw them go 3-0 up just before the break. The poor start was forgotten and all was well in the Brewer camp. But for the neutral watching it could&rsquo;ve been so much different if it wasn&rsquo;t for that save from Webster at 1-0. <p class="MsoNormal">So the 2nd half got underway with Albury throwing all they could at the Brewer backline who looked solid as ever and were more than comfortable with what Albury had to offer. <p class="MsoNormal">After withstanding another 5minute aerial bombardment Brewer looked to kick on sensing that this could well turn in to another rout (if they wanted it to). <p class="MsoNormal">The best chance for Brewer early in the 2nd half fell to Sutton after some great work by Watts down the wing who put it on a plate for the skipper a yard from goal but the skippers trusty left foot let him down and he blazed it over the bar with what will surely go down as the miss of the season&hellip; <p class="MsoNormal">This appeared to spur Albury on who had their best spell of the game forcing a great last ditch challenge from Felstead succeeded by yet another superb save from Webster and then shortly after saw Sutton redeem himself from his earlier miss by blocking a net bound strike with his face (some think he deserved it after spurning the earlier chance). <p class="MsoNormal">Good could tell changes were needed at this point and freshened things up by bringing Garret and Felton in to fold. The changes paid off almost instantly with Garret winning a great header and flicking it on Cox who squared for Watts who drilled the ball home from 2 yards out 4-0. <p class="MsoNormal">Albury were now out on their feet after a spirited display and Cox looked odds on to complete another hat trick. He obliged after some more decent football saw him go through 1 on 1, tease the keeper and tuck the ball home. 5-0 and another hat trick for Cox! <p class="MsoNormal">The final change saw Paulinho come on to show the Gaffer what he could do. He failed to make an instant impact but grew in to the game (more on him later). But for now it&rsquo;s back to the action and this saw Garret get his first assist of the season putting a pin point cross on to Cox&rsquo;s head for his 4th and Brewers 6th of the match. This was followed by a sumptuous pass from Cox to Field who burst through on goal, nut-megged the keeper, rounded him and tucked it away for 7! <p class="MsoNormal">The final goal of the game was Felton&rsquo;s first in a Brewer shirt when he latched on to Paulinho&rsquo;s diagonal ball and lobbed the keeper to complete the rout and cap the game off at 8-0. <p class="MsoNormal">So to round up the season so far Brewer have scored 18 and have not conceded now for nearly 300minutes (since the first game of the season).
