Away league match played on 16 October 2010.

Paul Winstone, took his table topping Rovers side to South Norfolk on Saturday to lock horns with Garboldisham FC, as they looked to strengthen their lofty league position.

Rovers made 2 changes from the side that beat Hopton the previous Saturday, with Ange Clarke returning from injury and Timothy Hodge replacing the injured Jamie Feltner in the heart of midfield.

With Garby only having played 3 league games this season and winning two of them, the visitors knew that they would be in for a real battle if they wanted to claim all 3 points. And it was without doubt the home side who started the game brighter as they looked to get at Rovers from the very off.

Despite their sluggish start it was Rovers who broke the deadline, when Ian Murfit was put clear through after 10 minutes, to expertly lob the Garby keeper from just outside the area.

The home side's response was swift, as Rover's continued to struggle to get proper control of the game, and the scores were once again level when the Garby frontline were able to beat the Rovers offside trap, and round Dave Clarke in the visitors goal to score.

The goal seemed to settle Rovers down a bit more and they then began to defend as a unit and show flashes of the football which has put them top of the table over recent weeks. They did receive a setback on the half hour mark though, when Skipper, Justin McKenzie was forced to leave the field wity an ankle injury.

As the half continued, Rovers began to look stronger and more resiliant and with 10 minutes to go before half time, a brilliant solo run from winger Manu Falcao, was lashed home from the edge of the area by substitute, Tiernan Boland, who restored the visitors lead.

Paul Winstone issued his side with a few strong words at half time reminding them that if they were to earn all 3 points today, that they would have to work a lot harder and perform a lot better in the 2nd period.

Rovers were able to continue where they had left off, 1st half and were rewarded very early on after the restart when a cross from the right hand side, struck the arm of a Garby defender and a penalty was awarded. Up stepped Micky Cross to fire Rovers into a 3-1 lead and write his name in the club's record books, as he became the 1st player in the club's history to score in 5 consecutive matches.

This should have settled Rovers still further and helped them to kill the game off but the game was thrown back into the balance when Andrew Clarke received his 2nd yellow card in quick succession, as the visitors were reduced to 10 men.

Rovers had to again shuffle their back 4 in an attempt to shore up their defence, as they awaited the home side's onslaught on their goalmouth.

Despite  the man advantage and the increase in possession, Garby were unable to really trouble Rovers, as they defended from the front, trying to cling on to their 2 goal advantage.

That advantage was further increased with 15 minutes to go, when yet another fantastic solo run from Manu Falcao, ended up with him lashing the ball into the Garby net, after a brilliant assist from Timothy Hodge, to put Rovers 4-1 up, with a real goal of the season contender.

This really killed off the home side's ambition of salvaging anything from the game, although Rover's did survive one or two scares near the end to hold on for a fantastic victory.

Rovers were obviously dleighted to hear the final whistle and certainly got the battle they were expecting from their hosts, who may feel a little hard done by to be on the end of a 4-1 defeat.

The win sees Rovers cement their place at the top of League 2, as they notch up their 5th win on the trot.

Their attention now switches form league to cup as they prepare to travel to Newmarket next Saturday to meet Studlands Park SC FC in the 2nd round of The Suffolk Primary Cup.
