Corinthian Casuals U12 welcomed Saltford Youth U12 to Seaclose Park on the morning of 3 May 2026 for a 9-a-side tournament match that kicked off promptly at 9:35am. Over the course of 60 minutes plus added time, the Casuals produced a commanding display to secure an emphatic 8-0 win, leaving Saltford unable to respond.
The Casuals lined up in a 3-4-1 formation, designed to balance defensive solidity with midfield control and attacking potency. Albie Safarty took his place between the sticks as goalkeeper, tasked with organising the backline and keeping a clean sheet. The defensive trio consisted of Lourenço Afonseca at right defender, Freddy Horwood centrally, and Alfie Vine on the left, all expected to thwart Saltford’s advances and initiate attacks from the back.
Ahead of them, the midfield quartet featured Thomas Albuquerque on the right flank, Jack Townson and Harvey O’Connor occupying the central midfield roles, and Cooper Lund on the left. Their responsibilities included maintaining possession, pressing the opposition, and supplying the lone striker Fraser Ross, who operated just ahead of the midfield line as the primary attacking outlet. The substitutes bench remained unused throughout the match.
From the outset, Corinthian Casuals asserted their dominance, controlling possession and territory. The first half saw relentless pressure from the Casuals, who carved open Saltford’s defence repeatedly. Despite the absence of detailed goal timings, it was clear that the Casuals’ attacking intent paid dividends, as they built a substantial lead by the interval.
At half time, with the scoreline already heavily in Corinthian Casuals’ favour, the team regrouped before continuing their onslaught in the second half. The defensive unit remained resolute, ensuring Saltford failed to register a single shot on target. Meanwhile, the midfielders’ tireless work rate and precise passing kept the opposition pinned back.
Fraser Ross led the line with energy and clinical finishing, capitalising on the service from the wide and central midfielders. Lourenço Afonseca and Alfie Vine provided width and defensive cover, while Freddy Horwood marshalled the backline with composure. Jack Townson and Harvey O’Connor’s central midfield partnership was instrumental in dictating the tempo and linking defence to attack.
As the match progressed, Corinthian Casuals continued to find the net with regularity, ultimately sealing an 8-0 victory that reflected their superiority in all departments. The clean sheet was a testament to the defensive discipline and organisation displayed by the trio of defenders and goalkeeper Safarty.
The 30 spectators at Seaclose Park witnessed a comprehensive performance from Corinthian Casuals U12, who demonstrated tactical awareness, technical skill, and clinical finishing throughout the 60 minutes. Saltford Youth U12 were unable to mount any meaningful challenge, succumbing to a well-drilled and confident Casuals side.
This dominant display will surely boost Corinthian Casuals’ confidence as they progress further in the tournament, having showcased their ability to control games and convert chances with ruthless efficiency.
