CTG FC travelled to Utumishi Grounds on 18 July 2026 to face Mamba FC in a friendly 11-a-side match, kicking off at 3:00pm. The visitors emerged emphatic 6-2 winners in a game that showcased their attacking prowess and tactical discipline under referee Timothy’s watchful eye. With a modest crowd of 30 in attendance, CTG FC delivered a commanding performance on the road.
CTG FC lined up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, deploying a balanced structure designed to control midfield and provide width in attack. Anto guarded the goal between the sticks, while the defensive line featured Charles at right back, Chullo and Manucho Huncho as central defenders, and Steve operating at left back. In midfield, Miaron and Qm Saba formed a double pivot tasked with breaking up play and distributing the ball. Ahead of them, the attacking trio consisted of Rego Raja on the right wing, Marcelo as the central attacking midfielder, and Telvin Muthwa on the left flank. Leading the line was striker Lucas, expected to spearhead the attack and convert chances. CTG FC’s substitutes included Wayne Kephers, Lewa DM, brayo and Hartley Capi.
The first half saw a tightly contested battle with neither side able to break the deadlock before the interval. Both teams showed intent but lacked the clinical edge to find the net in the opening 45 minutes.
Shortly after the restart, CTG FC broke the deadlock in the 51st minute when Marcelo AM fired home, capitalising on a well-worked move through the middle assisted by Telvin. Just seven minutes later, Lucas doubled the lead, demonstrating his poacher’s instinct with a composed finish. The momentum continued to swing in CTG FC’s favour as Telvin Muthwa was replaced by Wayne Kephers on the hour mark, injecting fresh energy into the left attacking midfield position.
Wayne wasted no time making an impact, scoring in the 63rd minute to extend the lead to 3-0. Marcelo then struck again two minutes later, completing his brace and putting CTG FC firmly in control at 4-0. Mamba FC managed to pull one back in the 68th minute, offering a glimmer of hope, but CTG’s dominance was far from over.
In the 73rd minute, Charles was substituted off for Lewa DM, reinforcing the midfield, followed by Hartley Capi replacing Manucho Huncho at the back four in the 77th minute. Lewa DM quickly justified his introduction by scoring in the 80th minute, with a precise assist from Marcelo, making it 5-1. The visitors continued to press, and in the 83rd minute, Miaron RW netted a goal set up by Wayne Kephers, further extending the lead to 6-1.
Mamba FC managed a late consolation goal in the 88th minute, but it was too little, too late as CTG FC comfortably sealed a 6-2 victory. The match highlighted CTG FC’s attacking fluidity and tactical execution, with Marcelo AM and Wayne Kephers standing out for their goal contributions and overall influence on the game.
