Away league match played on 14 December 2014.
Kicked off at 10:30 AM

As the day was dawning
On a Darlo Sunday morning
How I longedto be there
Thimblemill Rec was waiting for me there…..

Is this the way to Ben & Billo
Every night I've been hugging my pillow
Twenty Two for Ben & Billo
And it should have been 23

Show me the way to Ben & Billo
I've been weeping like a willow
Crying over Roberts penno
And it should have been 23

Yes lads I know the other team wor the best and I know they only had ten for a large part of the first half BUT (as the saying goes) you can only beat what’s in front of you . I honestly think we’d have beat a few teams today (perhaps not by the same margin) and the danger is letting the abysmal quality of the opponents detract from a great showing from ourselves . The quality of our final ball and finishing was something we haven’t done for ages and our goalie and defence were equal to a Bearwood side that just attacked randomly and were awkward to mark . I’m gonna pick out Billo’s first half strike with the outside of his foot as the best goal but after the December we have had can set the stage for a surge up the table.

A significant day also for saying goodbye to Adam Hearn whose Black Country career has been shortened with a job offer in Scunthorpe … he capped his time with us by grabbing a couple and I’m sure you would all wish him well up North .

As I said Sunday I am delighted with the fact we have continued to play proper football despite doubts from some quarters and just as importantly not engaged in silliness with either opponents or referees . Our reputation at Warley HQ (aka Hotshots) is flourishing and I am listening to similar praise at the ConClub . If Carling did Sunday teams I would have to drink lager instead of Mild .

Let’s have a rest now football wise and get refreshed for our Cup game on 4th January . Everybody has a part to play and we have a healthy competition for places now , including a few coming back from injury . We must all buy into this and if for any reason you aint got a shirt one Sunday just get behind the rest .

Christmas Jumper Day on Sunday ….meeting in Con Club between 12 and 1 then sweeping Darlo later on . All mates, family and partners welcome .
