Cherrybrook Dynamo’s 4 vs 5 Eastleigh Marvels

*Match Report*

Cherrybrook Dynamo 4 Eastleigh Marvels 5

That was just what we needed today after 2 matches where we coasted and weren’t really challenged we needed a game to get the juices flowing ahead of our league games. Always a quality evenly matched game against Dynamo who are in our league this year.

I wanted to treat it like a league game and it felt like one. That being said I had a plan pre match and I changed that plan second half due to the circumstances of the game which is what we will have to do this year ??

We started quite well taking a 2-0 lead through a Josh double. Another nice free kick and Johnny on the spot rebound. He was the best forward on the field first half working hard again off the ball.

Despite being in the lead I didn’t feel we were quite at it, the press from the front was not as intense as Monday, and my Lord we hung onto the ball for farrrr too long instead of releasing it!

We then seemed to lose our way further after about 20 mins losing every second ball and long balls in behind catching us out time and time again with us failing to win second balls.

Suddenly we are 3-2 down the third from them was quality I admit …but we were desperado to get them in the sheds for a half time team talk. That was an easy one more pressure on the ball and move the ball quickly

Second half much better guys, watching the highlight back (thanks again @?~Dean? ) the press is much better, winning the ball high and controlling the game. We gave our defenders some much needed respite and the front 3 and midfield pair much much stronger

Early second half after weathering a couple of half chances we took charge with a couple of goals from Jacob who was strong and decisive second half and a 5th from the hard working (shocked Ian) Jack

Their pen at the end was soft, I felt we earned a 3-0 second half myself

Special mention to Joshua, best forward for us first half, second i asked him to perform an unfamiliar role CDM as the front 3 were doing well and I thought he was excellent. That’s the sign of a great team player and it’s something we may need in the league campaign lads doing a job for the team.

In defence, Joey Noone was exceptional deputising for Eric, great tackling, concentration and leadership at the back. James as well finding his form again was steady Eddie and brave right at the end putting his body on the line.

Good to get Alex and Jawad plenty minutes in the tank before we lift off. I thought both grafted second half and listened to our half time words very well and drive us on.

Great contribution from all the lads, just what the doctor ordered that match.

Onto the start of the season next weekend and hopefully our first ever 3 points
