Home friendly match played on 21 September 2013.
Kicked off at 5:00 PM

I seriously have no idea when was the last time we took a 4-0 lead into half-time. Ben, you might want to add some clues here. But that was how it was at half-time and it certainly seem like we were cruising.

Starting line up

Sherman

Jiunn Kee SK (C) Bee

Henry Harold Poh Clarence Nick

Yew Boon

Subs:

- Edward

- Jerome

- Andy

- Damian

- Ben

First Goal - Actually I didn't see it but this was supposedly how it was scored. Kee told Poh that the keeper was off his line at a free kick near the half way line and Poh did the same thing as last week, took it quickly and scored. This was actually less than 10 minutes into the game.

2nd Goal - Henry finished off from a nice move down the left where Yew Boon bashed his way through into the box and then squared to Henry to finish.

3rd Goal - Bee was playing right midfield (yes, RM) and he went to harass the defence and the ball broke loose to Yew Boon who then shot it through the keepers legs on a one on one situation.

4th Goal - Harold shot from outside the box. That's all I remembered.

Half time talk was a major disaster. I had already thought how of to motivate the team after seemingly cruising to 4-0 but when I tried to articulate it, it somehow went wrong. Anyway, the plan was to keep playing as we were and to score more goals.

2nd half, within 2 minutes, we got a penalty when Yew Boon got tackled in the box. Egged by the supporters, he took it but the goalkeeper saved it.

Then, 2 defensive mistakes allowed them to get 2 quick goals within the next

5 minutes and the score line doesn't look that good anymore. The opponents certainly stepped up their game and could see that they were more up for it.

Changes were made to solidify the team and this seem to settle it for a while. We created many chances but couldn’t make them count. Henry had a good chance, Yew Boon had many (I lost count). Harold was skipping through but couldn't finish. Even Bee managed to appear in the opposition penalty box to pass to Edward who couldn't convert. Andy had another chance to open his account after a good move with Yew Boon (similar to last week). Then Yew Boon scored his second goal of the game. But then we conceded another at the end after yet another mistake by not clearing the ball sufficiently.

All in all a good win, but the feeling after game was weird. A lot of you guys were disappointed because we seemed to have lost the second half. This only bodes well for the future games as determination to win should always be the driver for all our games. Let me reiterate again. I am a football player, not a manager. I want to play but I can't. I am trying to make the Saturday evening as enjoyable for everyone as possible and this includes game time for all. Hope you guys can understand.

Man of the match : Yew Boon (scored 2, missed a few but certainly the person who made the difference for us).

See you guys next week.
