The Jaguars travelled to Coombe Wood School on 4th October to face Addiscombe All Stars, a team they had a tough finish against at the end of last season.
It was another physical battle, with both sides competing hard from the first whistle. The boys gave as good as they got and showed plenty of fight throughout.
The breakthrough came in the 26th minute after Alexander was fouled, with Glebe awarded a free kick. Alex stepped up and smashed it into the net to give the Jaguars the lead.
Then came the moment of the game in the 40th minute. The ball bounced out to George Mansell following G Martin’s challenge in the oppo’s box, and then from around the halfway line, George produced an absolute worldy, firing it over the keeper to make it 2–0
Addiscombe managed to pull one back with a long-range effort, making for a tense comeback, but it didn't deter the boys.
The closing stages were all about digging deep. The boys were tiring, but the effort never dropped. The midfield kept pushing relentlessly and the defence fought for every ball. Everyone stayed switched on, worked for each other and dug in until the final whistle.
In the closing minutes, Alexander was fouled again, this time inside the box. After a delay, the referee controversially awarded a free kick just outside the area... VAR!
Ben stepped up and buried it, making it 3–1 and putting the game beyond doubt.
A proper team effort against a very physical side. The boys battled, ran and never stopped fighting. Both keepers also played their part well in keeping Addiscombe at bay.
? Player of the Match: George Mansell A huge impact off the bench, capped off by that unbelievable halfway-line strike.
Another statement made. Another win. Still undefeated. ????
The Jaguars keep marching on. Well done, boys! ???
