On 17 May 2026, Glebe U9 Jaguar’s hosted Addiscombe All Stars at Coombe Wood School in their final fixture of the season, kicking off at 10:00am. In an entertaining 7-a-side contest, the Jaguar’s were narrowly beaten 4-3 in a closely fought match.

The game began at a high tempo, with Glebe creating early chances through Ben and Winston, both going close as the Jaguar’s looked to settle into their rhythm. Despite the early pressure, Addiscombe took the lead with goals in the 4th and 5th minutes.

Early substitutions saw Freddie Chenery introduced, with Freddie Brown also entering the action for Micky Gorringe as rotations began. Glebe continued to build pressure and were rewarded in the 13th minute when Ben finished well from outside the box to reduce the deficit.

Two minutes later, Alexander Walsh added a second goal in the 15th minute to bring the game level following sustained attacking play from the Jaguar’s.

The match remained competitive, with the boys continuing to threaten and create further openings. Addiscombe regained the lead on 29 minutes, with the boys continuing to work hard and stay in the contest.

Further changes saw Mansell involved in rotation alongside Micky Gorringe and George Martin returning to the pitch as Glebe pushed to stay in the contest. A standout moment came from Micky, who produced a brilliant “warrior” run down the wing, driving past challenges and carrying the ball deep into opposition territory, lifting the team and energising the sideline.

Glebe equalised again in the 42nd minute through Freddie Brown, finishing from a well-worked move to make it 3-3.

However, Addiscombe responded in the 45th minute to restore their advantage. Despite late pressure and continued effort from Wins and Chenery, Glebe were unable to find another equaliser this time.

Overall, the Jaguar’s showed strong attacking intent, resilience, and commitment throughout. The defensive unit and goalkeeper also produced a solid performance, dealing well with pressure and contributing to a competitive team display.

At the final whistle, all players were awarded Man of the Match in recognition of their effort across the game and the season.

The team now head into the summer break to rest and prepare for U10 football in September, taking with them a season full of growth, memories, and pride in what they have achieved together. Before that, there is still the much-anticipated Glebe Celebration Day in June to look forward to... a chance to come together one last time, reflect on the journey and celebrate a fantastic season shared by players, coaches, and families alike.
