On 15 March 2026, Glebe U9 Jaguars travelled to Croydon Postal Sports Ground in Warlingham to face Kerria Warriors in a 7-a-side cup match, kicking off at 11:30am. After conceding an early goal in the third minute, the Jaguars showed excellent character and determination to turn the game around and secure an impressive 5–1 away victory.
The early goal briefly put Glebe on the back foot, but the team quickly regrouped and began to grow into the match. The midfield worked tirelessly to win the ball back and support the attack, while the defence remained organised and composed under pressure. As the half progressed, Glebe began creating chances and building momentum.
Their persistence was rewarded in the 20th minute when George Martin found the net to bring the score back level. His goal gave the team a real lift and sparked a strong attacking spell from the Jaguars.
Glebe continued to push forward and just before half-time they took the lead. Freddie Chenery finished confidently from open play after a great assist from Winston Goody, giving Glebe a deserved 2–1 advantage heading into the break.
The Jaguars carried that momentum into the second half and began to take control of the game. Freddie Chenery produced a moment of real quality with a superb direct free-kick to extend the lead to 3–1, capping what was already an outstanding performance.
Glebe continued to apply pressure and were rewarded again when Ben Insall scored from a corner to make it 4–1. Shortly afterwards, Insall turned provider, delivering a well-placed assist for Alexander Walsh who finished confidently to extend the lead to 5–1 and effectively seal the victory.
Throughout the match, Glebe showed great teamwork, energy and discipline. The defence stayed strong, the midfield worked hard to control the tempo, and the forwards took their chances well. The boys showed fantastic resilience after going behind early and continued to support each other right until the final whistle.
It was a brilliant all-round team performance and every player played their part in an excellent cup away win. All the boys should be very proud of the effort, determination and positive attitude they showed throughout the match.
MOTM: George Martin for his important goal that brought Glebe back into the game early and the excellent impact it had for the team.
Special mention to Freddie Chenery for having a blinder of a match and scoring two fantastic goals, including a superb free-kick. ?
