On 22 March 2026, Glebe U9 Jaguars faced a physical challenge away at Orpington Stallions in a 7-a-side match kicking off at 11:30am. The hosts ran out 3–1 winners, but the scoreline doesn’t reflect Glebe’s effort.
Stallions started strongly with goals in the 3rd and 7th minutes, adding a third in the 18th. Despite this early setback, Glebe showed great resilience. Ben had an early attempt that shaved the bar, while Harry and the defense duo made some solid saves and clearances to keep the team in the game.
Glebe continued to battle, making several changes due to the physical nature of the match. Their persistence paid off when Alex showed great bravery to win a penalty after taking a heavy knock, with Micky calmly slotting it home in the 33rd minute - an excellent finish under pressure that lifted the teams spirits.
Jax had a great game, pulling off some really good saves, including a key stop in the 38th minute that kept Glebe fighting.
Freddie Brown was outstanding throughout, combining tireless work rate with defensive heroics, including a cheeky header (not allowed ;) ) to clear danger at a crucial moment, earning him Player of the Match.
Despite the early goals, Glebe grew into the game and the offensive half had the opposition on the ropes in the later stages, creating some good attempts and making strong runs to trouble the Stallions’ defence. The boys fought hard from start to finish despite multiple knocks and injuries, and in many ways earned the moral victory with their performance.
A tough result on paper, but a performance full of heart, bravery, and belief.
