Glebe U9 Jaguars travelled to Barnet Wood Road on 8 March 2026 to face Petts Wood Kingfishers in a 7-a-side league match, securing an impressive 6–4 victory after a tense contest.
Glebe started brightly and dominated with early chances from Ben Insall and Freddie Brown, but it was Petts Wood who took the lead in the 9th minute. Winston Goody quickly levelled in the 11th minute after winning and converting a penalty himself.
Petts Wood responded with two quick goals to lead 3–1, but the Jaguars showed great character. Ben Insall pulled a goal back in the 20th minute before Glebe turned the game around. Alexander Walsh twice assisted Winston Goody in quick succession, with Goody earning himself a hat-trick to put Glebe 4–3 ahead.
Petts Wood equalised again early in the second half to make it 4–4, but Glebe continued to press. Ben Insall restored the lead in the 41st minute and later provided an excellent assist for Goody, who completed his fourth goal of the match to make it 6–4.
There were strong performances across the team, including key defensive moments from Mansell, Micky, and Brown. Harrison made several important saves late in the match to maintain Glebe’s advantage. Fred C had a strong presence on the right wing, fighting for every ball, while Martin delivered some decisive passes that helped keep possession firmly with Glebe’s attacking efforts.
All boys showed great resilience and teamwork to fight back from behind and secure a well-earned away win.
