Away league match played on 24 January 2010.
Kicked off at 12:00 AM

In a highly entertaining game, against a skillful and very sporting side in Morpeth, we got a draw with virtually the last kick of the game.  This was the least we deserved, as we attacked well throughout the game.  Morpeth were a credit to their coach's playing the game the right way and with great spirit.

Right from the kick off, it was end to end stuff Sam going close straight away, Morpeth after some fine teamwork took the lead. We continued to play some neat football in midfield, and we got back on level terms when Joseph found Sam in the area and he finished nicely.  Just before the end of the first quarter Tigers, got a fortuitous effort, when a miss-kicked corner just managed to go through Aarons hands.

Second quarter very even, with Joseph, Elliott and Sam going close, at the other end they looked most dangerous from corners, and they duly got a goal, when a low kick  was put in nicely, to give them a 3-1 lead.

Third quarter and we hit back straight away, when a shot from Sam fell to Joseph who finished with confidence from close range lifting the ball nicely in to the net. After this we began to dominate, with Elliott having at least four attempts on goal and being denied by some very good keeping, Sam and Jospeh also went close.  At the back James was superb ably assisted by Josh & Harry.  Elliotts fine work in the third finally paid off when a long range strike finally managed to beat the keeper.  One of our best quarters of the season, excellent teamwork all round.

Fourth quarter Morpeth came back into the game a little, but the better chances fell to us with Sam hitting the post a couple of times.  With just a couple of minutes left, a long range free kick, managed to get past everyone to leave it 4-3.  With virtually the last kick of the game, after a typically good goal kick from Aaron, Elliott got a touch on to Sam, and he guided it in to the net.  From the kick off, the referee blew the whistle on what was one of the most entertaining games of the season, from two attack minded teams.

Sam given a go up front to put pressure on the opposition defenders certainly did that, with an all action display, while in central midfield Joseph and Elliott combined brilliantly to keep their defenders busy throughout.  At the back James caught the eye marshalling the defence really well, he was well supported in the left and right back positions by Taylor, Liam, Josh and Harry. A special mention to Harry asked to play in a different position from striker for the first time, he got stuck in especially with the lad about three times his height! Aaron made some brave saves, and goal kicking was superb all the way through, and led to our late equaliser.  For the thrid game in a row, hitting some excellent form Sam was the man of the match, but again it was a very close decision.

A very good team performance to round off the first part of the league season, we now go through into a small competitive league, where the only aim will be to win it! We are more than capable, just need to continue where we left off going forward, and work on defending as a team at corners and free kicks.  Will let everyone know straight away, once I know the fixtures for the new mini league.
