Hurdsfield Vipers 0 vs 1 Davenham Junior Football C

A beautiful morning for football saw Davenham travel for a league tie with both teams exactly matched in the league.

The 1st half wasn't full of many chances and we only managed a few half chances. Siddarth making a great run down the left, cutting in and firing a great low shot that the keeper made a great save from. Shortly after from a corner, it fell to Zak who's shot was well blocked on its way to the net.

Our defence was generally doing well but we still have a few lapses that let opposition in. We let the ball come into the box down the right and gave away a penalty which Davenham converted.

2nd half we really pushed on. Oliver came on and did well. He linked well with Owen who went upfront and Toby, Siddarth, Rory and Tymur all getting forward. We felt we should have had a penalty mid way through the half when a shot from the edge of the box appeared to be handled but the ref played on. We definitely had more of the play on the 2nd half but it just never dropped for us. At the other end we had to watch getting caught on the break, Tymon covered superbly as ever but Austin, Zak and Franek all doing well back there. Jack made a few great saves and was alive to any through balls.

A tough defeat to take but the performance was better compared to last week. Maybe just lacking a little cutting edge and slightly passive in patches in midfield.
